Key Responsibilities:
- Facilities Maintenance Operations: Oversee all aspects of facilities maintenance, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, structural, safety systems, and energy management.
- Grounds and Custodial Services: Ensure top-tier cleanliness and maintenance across campus buildings and grounds.
- Project Management: Lead short- and long-term planning, construction, and renovation projects, ensuring timely and within-budget completion.
- Maintenance Programs: Develop and manage preventive and corrective maintenance programs.
- Staff Leadership: Hire, train, and supervise staff, fostering a high-performance and collaborative culture.
- Client Interaction: Maintain consistent interaction with clients and the campus finance team to ensure excellent customer satisfaction.
- Budget Management: Oversee budget reporting, CAPEX planning, and financial performance, ensuring cost efficiency.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years as a Director of Facilities in a university or campus setting, managing skilled mechanical trades, grounds, and custodial services in a union campus environment.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, structural, safety systems, architectural, landscape, and energy management.
- Leadership Skills: Proven leadership skills with a focus on staff development, team building, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Business Acumen: Demonstrated business and financial acumen with strong P&L management experience.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional communication skills with experience in contract management.
- Certifications: Certified Facilities Manager (CFM) is a plus.
- Licensing: Valid Driver’s License required.
