JOB TITLE: Special Events Coordinator

FLSA TYPE: Non-Exempt, Hourly


JOB PURPOSE:

The Special Events Coordinator is responsible for the direct planning and oversight of special events, birthday parties, pool parties, conventions, meetings, and other events hosted at our YMCA. All staff are representatives of the philosophy, mission and goal of the YMCA and its youth development programs. Staff must strive to work cooperatively with fellow employees to achieve the goals and objectives of the YMCA.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (not a complete list):

  • Assist in planning, implementation, and delivery of party/event details.
  • Event set up and clean up.
  • Ensure safety and security for all guests.
  • Ensure event areas are clean and organized, supplies/equipment are stored properly.
  • Intentionally market YMCA rental spaces for the Tulsa community.
  • Schedule and attend meetings with members, businesses, and community partners.
  • Assists with administrative tasks, marketing efforts, and leadership initiatives related to the YMCA of Greater Tulsa.
  • Professional, pleasant, and enthusiastic representation during events and demonstrates the core values of the YMCA.
  • Understands and ensures members and guests feel safe and welcome. Regardless of gender identifiers, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, faith, and background.
  • Demonstrates a high level of professional ethics through fair and consistent implementation of all YMCA policies and procedures and licensure requirements with staff, program participants and parents.
  • Maintains current and accurate knowledge of YMCA facilities, policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years old
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Highly organized and demonstrates sound judgement and independent thinking
  • Positive role model with strong leadership, conflict resolution, and diplomacy skills
  • Current CPR/First Aid/O2 certification (will provide upon employment)

Preferred:

  • Certification or degree in related field: marketing, business, hospitality
  • Bilingual- English/Spanish
