GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Assistant Controller is responsible for all aspects of financial reporting for the OrthoNY entities, from the creation of annual budgets through financial reporting. Reporting to the Senior Director of Finance and Accounting, the Assistant Controller will lead the accounting functions for the OrthoNY locations, ensuring reliability and integrity of financial data.

RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily:

  • Preparing and consolidating financial statements
  • Establishing and maintaining internal controls
  • Managing all aspects of the general ledger
  • Providing monthly, quarterly and year-end analyses
  • Coordinating or assisting with the budget process
  • Researching accounting issues for compliance with GAAP
  • Analyzing and reporting cost variances
  • Serving as a liaison to external auditors
  • Supervising accounts receivable, accounts payable and general accounting departments
  • Other responsibilities as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and ability to perform the essential functions:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience including at least 3 years leading a finance department
  • Advanced MS Excel proficiency
  • Strong experience with ERP utilization
  • Ideal candidate will have both public accounting and healthcare experience
  • CPA certification preferred
  • Expert problem solver, analytical thinker and decision maker
  • Excellent communication skills, both orally and written; skilled in the art of negotiation
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and delegate responsibilities in an effective and efficient manner
  • Possess strong leadership skills and business acumen
  • Excellent organizational skills

OTHER INFORMATION

  • This is an “in office” position at our Latham, NY office
  • This position requires more than 40 hours a week including routine meetings after regular business hours.
  • Ability to travel to various OrthoNY locations if needed. Reliable transportation is essential.
