Mechanical Engineer

Our client is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join their team, focusing on the design and development of automation and robotics projects. This role involves conceptualizing complex mechanical assemblies, creating detailed 3D models, and ensuring that engineering projects meet all standards and specifications.

Day to Day Responsibilities

  • Design complex automation machinery, robotic cells, and material handling systems.
  • Create 3D part/assembly models and detailed drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Manage the scope of mechanical design work on customized projects, including supervising project work and verifying designs.
  • Support fabrication, testing, and installation to ensure conformity with design and customer specifications.
  • Provide technical expertise in automation and equipment engineering practices.
  • Meet project commitments including cost, schedule, and performance.
  • Assist sales activities with design conceptualization, estimating, and quote generation.
  • Maintain positive customer relations and follow safety rules and procedures.
  • Approximately 10% travel required, typically within a 400-mile radius of Milwaukee, with potential for international travel and occasional overnight stays.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology required.
  • 1+ year of 3D CAD design experience (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD Inventor) with a focus on automation systems.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology preferred.
  • Experience in mechanical engineering within automation is a plus.
  • Strong background in precision machine design and pneumatic/electric actuator specification.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes (machining, welding, etc.).
  • Experience in project management methods and tools is preferred.
  • Experience in fixed automation or robotic assembly system design.
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities.
  • Capable of mentoring interns and other engineering partners.
  • Experience in creating drawing packages, electronic bills of materials, and engineering change orders.
