Job DescriptionJob DescriptionAre you a skilled Professional Engineer seeking a new part-time opportunity? BioSpectra is looking for an experienced part-time Professional Engineering Specialist to join our team and support the top 25 pharmaceutical companies globally.

The ideal candidate will be a certified Professional Engineer with a PE license who has strong technical, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. As a Professional Engineering Specialist at BioSpectra, you will be overseeing the implementation of facility P & ID’s, supporting Project Management with construction drawings/submittals, and providing Manufacturing Equipment Support.

Job Summary:

The Professional Engineering Specialist will oversee the implementation of our facility P & ID’s, support Project Management with construction drawings / submittals, and for Manufacturing Equipment support. You will be responsible for assessing the facility's resource requirements, designing and optimizing the facility's layout and critical operational systems, and overseeing the Project Management drawing submittal packages.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Infrastructure Planning
    • Coordinates infrastructure planning in accordance with site requirements.
    • Assists in the development of site planning.
  • Equipment Planning
    • Coordinates Manufacturing Equipment upgrades and new installations with Product. Development, Manufacturing, and Quality.
    • Maintains equipment records.
    • Maintains current drawings for equipment.
  • Certified Project Drawings / Permit Submittals
    • Maintains Professional Engineering status.
    • Completes / Certifies project drawings.
    • Completes and submits Project Permit packages.
  • Facility P&ID Implementation
    • Reviews all facilities current layout.
    • Completes P &ID packets for each facility.
    • Maintains drawing records.
    • Other duties may be assigned as deemed appropriate by management.
    • Completes and submits Project Permit packages.
  • Additional Responsibilities
    • Gathering and analyzing data, blueprints, and reports.
    • Determining facility and equipment specifications.
    • Analyzing project costs and preparing budgets.
    • Designing and overseeing the implementation of facility expansion, layout, various systems, and quality controls.
    • Evaluating operational systems and facility infrastructure to ascertain and improve operational efficiencies.
    • Developing processing plans and optimizing resource allocation.
    • Planning and coordinating infrastructure and equipment maintenance schedules and activities.
    • Coordinating and overseeing contractors performing maintenance activities.
    • Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, building codes, and health and safety standards.
    • Preparing reports and compliance documentation.
    • Reports and escalates to the Director of Project Management issues and concerns in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

  • Education/Certifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
    • Certified Professional Engineer.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of three or more years of experience as a Plant Engineer or similar role.
    • Demonstrated proficiency with AutoCAD and MS Office.
    • Applied working knowledge of the building process and construction principles.
    • Working knowledge of relevant building & construction regulations and building codes.
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
    • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
    • Expertise in planning, managing and executing building & construction projects.

Work Hours:

  • Non-Exempt Position; Part-Time
  • Minimum of 5-30 Hours Week, or other agreed upon documented schedule.
  • Ability and willingness to work from all BioSpectra facilities.
