Job Summary

We are seeking a seeking a skilled, highly motivated, and detail-oriented technician with hands on experience in inkjet printing or other thin film coating processes. In this position, you will support our team to prepare concepts and prototype, conduct process and product trials, perform evaluations, and acquire and maintain databases. Work will include machine operation, chemical and film material handling, updating the operating software for the equipment and tools, and performing quality control and quality assurance material and product testing. Demonstrated ability to debug and troubleshoot hardware issues, manipulate print files using various software tools, and monitor and manage the printing and measurement tasks are required. As a member of the SMS team, you must have a positive, flexible attitude, the ability to work both individually and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with a team of engineers, scientists, program management and functional personnel, and external material and equipment suppliers to meet the technical milestones and production goals.

  • Ability to work with engineers and scientists to understand the test requests and follow documented processes to execute tasks on time.
  • Ability to support and operate ARA’s large format and other inkjet print systems including machine set-up and clean-up, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Ability to support continuous improvement projects and programs.
  • Ability to operate and update image software packages and learn new software to create print files.
  • Prepare materials and equipment to conduct trials.
  • Measure and document the printed products’ properties. Perform testing as requested.
  • Maintain the process and product databases.
  • Clearly document completed work verbally and in writing. Prepare reports as requested.
  • Support the creation of forms/templates, processes, and work instructions.
  • Ability to collaborate with the team to complete tasks as well as identify and communicate issues to the team.
  • Contribute ideas to improve safety, efficiency and/or overall effectiveness.
  • Follow established quality, safety and environmental procedures and policies.
  • Handle chemical raw materials while adhering to procedures and safety protocols.
  • Organizational and time management skills to meet multiple priorities on time.
  • Occasional travel will be required.

Experience and Skills

  • In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of laboratory and/or manufacturing experience.
  • Experience in physical, mechanical, and optical property testing. Experience in microwave and radio frequency testing a plus.
  • Experience in testing, documenting, writing, and implementing new test methods.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Must be flexible, self-motivated, and detail oriented.
  • Enjoy working as a member of a team in a dynamic environment.


Additional preferred Experience and Skills:

  • >3 years of experience
  • Background in inkjet printing or other thin film coating processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and troubleshoot machine issues.


Education

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience in inkjet printing or other thin film coating technologies
