Job DescriptionJob Description

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for the development, implementation and control of accounting policies and procedures, formulation and/or enhancement of internal control systems and processes, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the financial statements, and related supporting documents, that is consistent with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and District Accounting Policies.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


1. Directs the activities of General Accounting, Accounts Payable, and Payroll.

2. Assists with the preparation of annual revenue, expense, statistical, and capital budgets.


3. Directs compilation, preparation and review of hospital financial statements and oversees posting to the general ledger, with emphasis on the balance sheet and clearing accounts.


4. Directs internal control efforts and coordinates all external audit functions. Provides all documentation necessary for audit completion.


5. Prepares monthly financial analysis and productivity reports. Reviews departmental financial statements and makes recommendations to CFO Administration that would improve profitability.


6. Manages daily cash requirements and projects cash requirements in accordance with strategic initiatives


7. Prepares annual renewals and updates insurance policies for Fiduciary, D & O, Liability, Property, and others, and monitors Group Health and Workers Compensation insurances.

8. Performs other related assignments as required.


9. Serves as administrator for Hospital’s Information Decision Support and Budgeting System


10. Oversees the BETA BEST repairs program and submits necessary paperwork for timely reimbursement.


11. Manages the District’s annual financial audit


12. Special projects assigned by CFO



OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs complex analyses to increase profitability and return on investment and/or that reduce financial and operational risk.


JOB RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to the C.F.O.


EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED: Five years of senior level accounting and managerial experience within the healthcare industry. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field. Must be knowledgeable of administrative and accounting procedures, familiar with the hospital auditing principles and practices, proficient use of word processing and spreadsheet applications and hospital main-frame systems. Must possess management and communications skills as defined in management expectations in the performance appraisal.



AGE OF POPULATION SERVED: No patient contact.


Work Environment: Must be able to operate all necessary office equipment. Must be able to see, hear, speak, bend, stretch, twist, stoop, file reach and sit for extended periods of time.


MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to organize and prioritize to meet deadlines. Excellent cognitive, interpersonal, and problem solving skills are required.


SCHEDULING AND AVAILABILITY: Must be willing to work beyond normal working hours, occasional evenings, weekends and holidays when necessary.
