Facilities Technician

Job Summary: The Facilities Technician performs routine building maintenance, installation, and repairs to ensure the facilities are safe, clean, and available for use.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Performs a variety of routine semi-skilled maintenance of facilities, including but not limited to carpentry, snow removal, landscaping, painting, plumbing, and electrical trades work.
- Conducts routine inspections and maintenance of heating, electrical, and air conditioning equipment; identifies more complex maintenance needs and effectively communicates with outside contractors as needed.
- Inspects facilities and grounds for safety and security; identifies and resolves hazardous conditions.
- Follows safe working practices and complies with building codes.
- Performs custodial tasks, keeps building and grounds clean and attractive.
- Monitors inventory, orders supplies, and maintains purchase records within authorized budget.
- Maintains records and logs of daily activities.
Key Skills Required:
- Knowledge and use of basic power tools.
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to establish, maintain, and foster positive and effective working relationships.
- Knowledge and understanding of Building Management Systems used to control environmental systems.
- Knowledge of emergency plans.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED and 1-3 years of hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing systems.
- Clean driving record.
- Experience working in a company operating under ISO, FDA, or similar quality systems or regulations.
- Experience in HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems in commercial buildings preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Occasionally lift 50 lbs. and regularly lift to 30lbs, handle tasks involving frequent bending, twisting, lifting, squatting, walking, and standing.
- Must be able and willing to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to use fingers to grasp, move, or assemble very small objects.
