Job Summary:

As an Assembly Technician, you will be an essential member of the manufacturing team, contributing to the success of our operations. We are seeking skilled, efficient, and attentive personnel for the sign assembly department. Primary duties include wiring, assembly, light fabrication and optimizing the assembly process, ensuring efficient and high-quality production. Attain knowledge of the sign industry, products, components, and materials (via training provided by SouthWood Corporation), with the goal of advancing proficiency and quality as part of the production team.


Responsibilities:

  • Sign Assembly:
    • Reviewing, understanding, and performing tasks required directed by SouthWood Corporation drawings.
    • Attention to detail.
    • Complete wiring of electrical components for illumination of sign cabinets, channel letters and various other products.
    • Assembly of various plastics, metals and components using/applying tapes, fasteners, adhesives and various tools and techniques.
    • Support the production team in all manners and aspects required (inter-departmental). Including collecting and moving materials and components. Pay it forward in a professional manner and assist in training and direction for new employees in the proper SouthWood Corporation way.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues that may arise during assembly, seeking assistance from supervisor when needed.
  • Follow directives from the immediate department lead and production supervisors.

  • Quality Assurance
  • Perform regular quality checks on finished sign components.
  • Ensure that all manufactured products meet SouthWood's quality, methods & standards

  • Material and Tool Management
  • Monitor and assess inventory quantities to prevent shortages.
  • Coordinate with purchasing team to maintain a standard supply of materials and tools required for production.
  • Maintain, track, and conduct proper use of all shop tools & equipment.
  • Safety and Compliance
    • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while operating equipment & handling materials and tools.
    • Promote and maintain a safe and organized work environment.

  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Work with production manager and follow production schedules to prioritize tasks ensuring timely completion, adherence to quality standards, and meeting production targets.
    • Collaborating with various department personnel and department leads to ensure smooth workflow and efficiency.
    • Participate in team meetings to discuss production status, challenges, and improvements.
    • Maintain clear and effective communication across all levels of the organization through emails, meetings, and other communication channels.
    • Provide support with all departments and tasks, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.

  • Record Keeping
    • Maintain detailed production records of your time and materials use daily.

  • Safety
    • Enforce all safety rules and document safety incidents with the QA and Safety Manager.

  • Process
    • Adherence to all SW processes and standards.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications or relevant vocational training is a plus.
  • Proven experience in basic electrical wiring, machinery, and various hand tools.
  • Self-motivation, accountability, and the ability to follow, understand and absorb basic instructions and complete tasks accurately and efficiently.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments to achieve production goals.
  • Strong attention to detail and dedication to maintaining quality standards.
  • Safety-conscious with a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret design drawings and blueprints accurately. (with-in 90 days -with training)
  • Strong technical and mechanical aptitude.
  • Creative /Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
