Our Interview Process:
At Palmetto Renovations of Columbia, Inc. we believe in finding the best talent and ensuring they're the right fit for our team. Our comprehensive interview process is designed to not only evaluate your skills and experience but also give you a taste of what it's like to work with us. Here's a breakdown of our process:
1. In-Person Interview with Assistant Operations Director: You'll have the opportunity to meet with our Assistant Operations Director to further discuss the position, your qualifications, and how you align with our company values.
2. Background Check and Drug Test: To ensure the safety and security of our team and clients, we conduct a thorough background check and drug test as part of our hiring process.
3. Final Interview with Company Officers: If you pass the background check and drug test you will meet with the two officers of Palmetto Renovations of Columbia, Inc. to discuss job expectations and compensation at which time they will inform you if you will move forward to the orientation internship. You will also negotiate your starting wage based on the salary range posted online and your experience for your 90-day probationary period.
4. Orientation Intern to Full-Time Hire: The first 2-3 days are set aside as "Orientation" to get a good working knowledge of the company, its background and your role within the company as well as completing challenge-based-learning videos and quizzes that involve lessons on industry wide professionalism. This orientation process is paid at a rate of $12.50/hour. Once outside of your internship, your full-time salary will take effect for the duration of your probationary period.
Position Overview
The Construction Estimator and Advisor (otherwise referred to as the "Project Specialist") is a crucial role in the success of the company. Project Specialists are the first point of contact between the customer and Palmetto Renovations of Columbia, Inc. The ideal candidate for this position is charismatic, a natural-born salesperson, and has a basic knowledge of construction/renovations.
All leads will be provided directly to the consultant to work. Guidance in cost assessment, estimate preparation, and digital renderings will be provided by the Sales Director. Any leads that are not handled properly by the Specialist are subject to reassignment and the Specialist is subject to pause on future lead assignments. The Project Specialist earns a 3% commission on any projects sold, and with contracts ranging from $30,000.00 to $300,000.00+, the earning possibility is endless
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Attends initial contact appointments with potential customers to obtain information regarding the wants and needs of the potential customers. The Project Specialist will take detailed notes, photos and getting any required measurements for the potential project during this appointment.
- Using the information obtained from the initial contact appointment, the Project Specialist creates a price request that contains the photos, drawings, and an itemized estimate of the proposed cost of the project.
- Creates estimates from the approved price requests.
- Conducts design consultations with potential customers to present a 3D rendering of the potential project.
- Take call-in and walk-in leads and record them in the call-in sheet.
- Update status on any pending or active leads in CRM Software(s).
- Attend Staff and Sales Meetings to provide updates.
- Assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the store front and work areas.
- Ensure all deadlines are met and work is completed correctly.
- Respond to questions and requests for information in a timely manner.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Training, Education and Licensure
- Associate’s degree in related field or equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge and skills.
- Three (3) years of related work experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
- Proficient in Home Designer Pro, Chief Architect and/or other AutoCAD or 3D Rendering software is preferred but not required.
- Ability to learn necessary software (i.e., Monday.com, QuickBooks, etc.) indigenous to the construction business environment.
- Excellent organizational, problem solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate with others, oral and written.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Must be able to multi-task and easily adapt to a fast-paced environment.
- Comply with all organizational policies and standards regarding ethical business.
- Participate in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement.
- Strong work ethic to meet changes in responsibilities that will take place daily.
- Capacity to work independently and as a team player.
