We are seeking a skilled and professional Japanese Court Interpreter to provide accurate and reliable interpretation services in legal settings for a contracted position. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of legal terminology, exceptional language proficiency in both Japanese and English, and the ability to maintain impartiality and confidentiality.

Principal Duties & Required Skills
  • Provide consecutive interpretation from Japanese to English and vice versa during court proceedings, including trials, hearings, depositions, and client-attorney meetings.
  • Interpret spoken and written communications accurately, ensuring the message is conveyed clearly and without alteration.
Requirements:
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional interpreting experience, preferably in a legal or court setting.
  • Proven track record of accurate and reliable interpretation and translation services.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification from a recognized interpreting and translating body (e.g., NAJIT, ATA, or equivalent).
  • Experience in law enforcement/legal environment.
  • Experience providing interpretation in potentially adversarial situations.
