Job Title: Indoor Common Area Custodian ~ afternoon to evening shift

Summary: The Indoor Common Area Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness of all common areas within the HarborWalk Village and Emerald Grande. This includes, but may not be limited to restrooms, hallways, lobbies, stairwells, ballrooms and boardroom, Grande Vista restaurant, indoor and outdoor pool decks, Captain’s deck, Sunset deck, elevators and elevator landings, windows, handrails, parking garage, parking lot, Village Road, Grey Docks, L-Docks, 2nd level of Village, trash rooms, trash chutes, and trash cans.

Common Area Custodians will work as a team to rotate responsibilities, equally working both indoors and outdoors.


**This shift requires working from 1:00 - 9:30 p.m.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Indoors/Outdoors ~ Emerald Grande

  1. Sweep/mop outside entry areas and inside facility floors.
  2. Clean all glass doors, and common area countertops.
  3. Empty trash cans.
  4. Dust all common area furniture.
  5. Clean and stock all public restrooms.
  6. Clean and mop all elevator baseboards and floors.
  7. Clean elevator landing window blinds.
  8. Vacuum soft seating area in Grande Vista, floors leading in and out of Spa, the hallways of all floors of both towers, gift shop, and all conference areas near ball/dining rooms.
  9. Sweep/mop indoor pool deck area, arranging pool furniture in an orderly fashion as needed.
  10. Assure that all trash is off the floor of the trash rooms, and that trash chutes are free of clogs.
  11. Clean/mop trash room walls, chute doors, and floors.
  12. Clean outdoor pool deck by removing trash and debris, sweeping sand and dirt away from guest areas, and arranging pool furniture in an orderly fashion as needed.
  13. Other duties as assigned.

** Daily cleaning checklist will be provided.

Outdoors ~ HarborWalk Village

  1. Pick up all garbage from the ground in the parking lots, parking garage, and throughout HarborWalk Village.
  2. Change/empty trash bags and wipe down trash bins in all levels of the parking garage, and throughout HarborWalk Village.
  3. Push trash chute dumpsters, sweep trash areas, as well as power wash and sanitize trash areas.
  4. Hose down all pavement areas in front of food trucks and docks.
  5. Report any/all issues while clean and inspecting areas – leaks, stains, pile ups, trash chute issues, bricks/tile broken, repairs to doors, walls, handrails.
  6. Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred but not required.

Previous janitorial experience a plus.

Other Qualifications

Availability Open and operational seven days a week. Employees are required to be available to workdays, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Language Skills Must be able to speak, read, write, and comprehend the English language. Ability to read and interpret documents such as cleaning checklists, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

License Requirements Valid driver’s license that has been in effect for at least three years, with no major violations and no more than two minor violations in the past three years.

The employee is required to be able to hear conversations in quiet and noisy environments.

Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Most of the work to be completed is in an indoor setting. Some areas may be high-traffic and consideration of the guests in the vicinity required.


While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical equipment/carts. The employee is required to work both inside in climate-controlled conditions, as well as outside in hot or cool climates. The noise level in the work environment can be loud and occasionally very loud.
