Technical Project Manager

Location: Remote-Preferred in the EST

Duration: 12-month contract w/expectation to covert to permanent

Rate: $60 - $65/hr on W2

Project Management

  • Onboard and guide application teams through their end to end migration journey (minimum to start, migration, maintenance, decommissioning, etc).
  • Develop and manage project plans for cloud and data center migrations, ensuring timelines, milestones, and deliverables are met.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including solution architects, developers, Councils, and operations, to facilitate a smooth migration process and standardized documentation

Migration Planning

  • Collaborate with application owners to develop comprehensive cloud migration plans, considering factors such as data migration, security, compliance, dependencies, and cost optimization.
  • Evaluate and recommend appropriate cloud services and solutions based on the specific requirements of each application.
  • Technical Expertise (does not need to be strong, have the engineering teams, need to be able to pass from team to team)
  • Possess familiarity with cloud computing and major cloud providers (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

Collateral Management

  • Create FAQs and update regularly
  • Create and recommend content for MoPo/portal
  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation
  • Identify potential risks and challenges associated with cloud and colo migrations and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Implement monitoring and testing processes to ensure the ongoing security and performance of migrated applications.

Communication and Stakeholder Management

  • Represent the Enterprise Cloud Business Office (ECBO) and uphold the integrity of the program vision, foundational technical expectations, and established change management.
  • Communicate effectively with application owners, project teams, and senior management to provide updates on project progress, challenges, and successes.
  • Foster positive relationships with stakeholders and address concerns in a timely and effective manner.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in technical project management, with a focus on data center migration projects.
  • Knowledge of cloud computing and data center concepts, architectures, and services.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages and automation tools for cloud and data center deployment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Cloud certification from major providers (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect).
  • Knowledge of SDLC and DevOps principles and practices.
  • Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Proven experience with app migration
  • Must be able to demonstrate Architecture best practices.
  • Create & Execute plans on how and when to officially "move" to the cloud or colo
  • Providing Guidance, Thought leadership and owning the cloud architecture

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for successful analysis, high-level design and delivery of cloud projects
  • Manages and performs high-level, day-to-day tasks supporting architecture initiatives, developing strategies, creating and supporting executive presentations, and guiding individual cloud migrations.
  • You will apply your expertise on multiple complex work assignments, which are broad in nature, requiring originality, creativity, and innovation in determining how to accomplish tasks.
  • Apply your in-depth knowledge across key tasks and high impact assignments, evaluate performance results and recommend changes as necessary to achieve project success.
  • Lead the high-level and detailed architecture of complex systems related to a broad range of business areas.
  • Design and documentation of systems architecture, design, cost estimates combined with planning skills required to lead the activities for cloud migrations and cloud shared services expansions/enhancements in cloud production environments.

Day to Day:

  • Act as the single point of contact for application teams on their application journey to either the Cloud or Colo data centers.
  • Liaise with all infrastructure and Cybersecurity partners to help application teams with their migration journey.
  • Understand, and be able to articulate, where each assigned application is in their migration journey, regardless of whether the tasks reside in infrastructure or not.
  • Keep the application tracker current (weekly updates, minimum).
  • Hold weekly (minimum) status meetings with application teams to understand status, blockers etc.
  • Continually seek & recommend migration factory improvements.
  • Develop a solid understanding of the technology needed for application modernization; Terraform, Ansible, CI/CD pipelines, etc., to be able to prepare and assist the application teams in their modernization efforts.
  • Raise issues as appropriate; assess trends so the factory can be improved.
  • Maintain a plan for each application
