Job Title: Aerospace Laser Punch

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate bending, laser cutting, and punching machines. (TRUMPF machines knowledge is a plus
  • Work / inspect parts according to blueprints
  • Maintain high standards of quality
  • Inspect product quality per customer spec to detect errors or machine malfunctions
  • Work and be familiar with measuring tools (Calipers, Protractors, Tape measures, etc.)
  • Maintain CNC machines, area and other tools in good condition

Machine Support Functions

  • Make machine and program adjustments and perform minor maintenance
  • Work with department computers entering data
  • Work with other department on scheduling
  • Maintain high standards of safety and housekeeping

Responsibilities include:

Attending daily production meetings if required

Suggesting and implementing cost improvements

Interacting with Quality Department

Maintain an organized, clean and safe work environment

Maintain an effective working relationship with their department and other departments.

Responsible for ordering or helping with ordering of supplies used in their department.

Responsible for ensuring that all machinery and equipment within their department is in operation and is quickly repaired when breakdown occurs and lock-out/tag-out procedure is followed.

Responsible for fostering a spirit of cooperation and teamwork within their work group and throughout the company.

Responsible for notifying the Plant Manager of any event related to violation of safety rules or company policy.

Responsible for performing other related duties and assignments as required

Education:

Required - High School Graduate

Preferred - Vocational School/Machine Trade School

Job Skills and Abilities:

Job Knowledge/ Judgment – Possess the practical/ technical knowledge required on the job (including basic math ability and understanding of mechanical principles used in sheet metal fabrication. Able to read and interpret blueprints. Mechanical ability. Basic computer skills.) Ability to use measuring instruments to produce parts within decimal tolerances. Ability to do conversion to and from metric. Uses equipment effectively, and general understanding of production, work process and operations. Demonstrates proper decision-making skills when needed.

Dependability – Punctual, observes prescribed work breaks/ meal periods and has an acceptable overall attendance record.

The employee must be able to frequently stand up to two to three hours continuously. The employee is occasionally required to sit, walk, climb stairs, bend, and stoop. The employee must be able to reach and grasp cut parts repeatedly throughout the day. The employee is regularly required to lift 45 lbs minimum and up to 60 by self and up to 120 lbs. In a “buddy” lift.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to communicate verbally.

While working in this position, the employee will be exposed to fabrication shop conditions including exposure to dirt, dust, and noise. Extremes of heat or cold are common as is exposure to solvents and electrical energy. Employees must work around machinery with moving parts and mobile vehicles. Employees work closely with others. Some overtime is required, depending on demand and management discretion.
