JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Small Engine Service Technician

REPORTS TO: Service Manager/Shop foreman and Store Manager

WORKS CLOSELY WITH: Service Manager and Shop foreman

JOB SUMMARY: Diagnose and repair Customer product and small engines for customers and/or the dealership. This will include mowers, string trimmers, small utility tractors, snow blowers, ATV's, UTV's and any small customer products sold by John Deere and or the dealership including Honda Power Equipment and Honda Power sports where sold. Must possess good time management skills, good interpersonal skills and be able to interact with customers and be capable of providing detailed repair information.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (listed in order of importance):

  • Repair and or recondition Customer product equipment.
  • Operate Special tools and shop equipment in a safe and orderly manner.
  • Participate in Service educate training programs required for the development of skills and knowledge.
  • Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work area and performs work in the same fashion.

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Needs to be able to complete and pass technician JDU core certifications (Electrical, Hydraulic and Service Advisor) and Honda certification training.
  • Ability to operate vehicles and equipment safely for use in diagnostic purposes.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
  • Continue product specific training in JDU and Honda training to keep up to date knowledge of old and new products.

SPECIAL SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must know how to use Window's based programs like Service Advisor, Parts Pro, the business system and Internet Explorer.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Extended periods of standing, bending, kneeling, overhead work and must be able to lift 50 lbs. regularly.
  • Extensive time on a computer.
