Job DescriptionJob DescriptionPropulsion Controls Engineering has a current opening for an Enviornmental, Safety & Health Technician I, supporting our Bremerton & Everett, Washington locations.

PCE is an approved and recognized ABR with Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), working as both a prime contractor and subcontractor for government ship repair. For more than 40 years, PCE has completed thousands of separate jobs and accomplished major system overhauls on virtually every class of ship currently operating in the U.S. Navy.

Job Summary:

Serves as a resource for facility and subcontractor personnel working in a variety of industrial fields associated with ship repair. The areas include: on board sea going vessels and ships; industrial shops; dry docks, etc., ensuring compliance with established Federal OSHA, State OSHA, NAVSEA Standard Items, and Maritime regulations and/or requirements.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs daily safety inspections in all shops, vessels and operating areas in which repairs are being conducted.
  • Continuously interacts and effectively communicates with customers, company employees, subcontractors, vendors and visitors to the facility.
  • Ensures Safety and Health processes are in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Distributes weekly Gang box trainings, ensuring employees are educated on hazards associated with their job duties.
  • Assists Safety and Health department in data entry and recordkeeping requirements.
  • Conducts monthly facility fire extinguisher inspections.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.

Job Requirements and Qualifications:

Education:

  • High School Diploma preferred.

Experience and Knowledge:

  • Minimum 1 year of previous work in the field of safety or related field preferred.

Management may determine an applicant qualified/may qualify for the position if the applicant has the necessary knowledge and/or certifications to meet the requirements.

  • Understanding of OSHA Regulations 29 CFR 1910, 1915.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Maritime Knowledge (preferred).
  • Previous military experience (preferred).

Environmental Factors / Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to perform these as well as Essential Function(s) with or without reasonable accommodation and without posing a direct threat to safety or health of employee or others.
  • Work under compressed timelines and other resource limitations.
  • Must be able to work in a wide variety of environments, conditions, and/or situations; including:
  • Routinely bending, twisting, kneeling, climbing and reaching 1-12 hours per day.
  • Sitting, standing and walking for 1-12 hours per day
  • Enduring noise, fumes, and dust.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 1-50lbs throughout the day.
  • Must be able to push or pull up to 50lbs.
