Your responsibilities will include handling materials, assisting skilled workers, and ensuring the cleanliness and safety of the work environment. Your role is essential in maintaining the smooth operations and high standards of the shipyard. Major Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist skilled workers, such as welders, carpenters, and machinists, by performing supportive tasks as directed.
  • Handle and transport materials and equipment safely to various locations within the shipyard, ensuring the right materials are available when needed.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the work areas, including sweeping, disposing of debris, and organizing tools and materials.
  • Operate basic hand and power tools with proper safety precautions.
  • Collaborate effectively with other team members to accomplish daily tasks efficiently and safely.
  • Comply with all safety guidelines and procedures to maintain a safe working environment, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Assist in loading and unloading materials, checking deliveries for accuracy, and reporting discrepancies.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a laborer role, preferably in an industrial or maritime environment, is advantageous but not necessary.
  • Physical stamina to perform labor-intensive tasks and work in varying weather conditions.
  • Basic understanding of tool and equipment safety.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with a willingness to learn and take direction from skilled professionals.
  • Proactive and safety-conscious approach to all tasks.
Safety & Environmental Factors: All employees are expected to adhere to the company’s safety policies to maintain a safe and healthy work environment. This role involves working under extreme hot or cold conditions and requires the physical ability to stand for the entire shift, use hands for various tasks, ascend stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear. Team members must occasionally lift items weighing up to 50 lbs.
