A Combination Technician is responsible for the installation, servicing, and repairing Telephone and Internet services to and at customer premises. Mt. Rushmore Telephone Company provides those services in the Hermosa and Keystone, South Dakota areas.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Performs all types of POTS line, DSL, and fiber optic broadband installations. Including provisioning and extending service to the customer’s premise.
  • Identifies trouble in POTS line, DSL, and fiber optic broadband service and repairs or replaces faults.
  • Performs locating of underground fiber optic and copper cables
  • Competent to work on FTTH (Fiber to the Home) equipment
  • In order to preform installs and repairs, has the ability to identify color coded copper cable pairs and fiber strand.
  • Can splice or assist with splicing fiber.
  • Performs periodic maintenance on generators, batteries, and related equipment.
  • Provide assistance to underground and aerial contractors to complete projects.
  • Ability to complete aerial work, which involves climbing poles and ladders.
  • Other duties as assigned by direct supervisor.

Education and Experience: High School Degree or GED required. Five to ten years of experience in telephone plant operations preferred.

Compensation:

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to commute/relocate to the Mt. Rushmore area
  • Work location – In-Person
  • Employee must have a valid driver’s license
    • Employees utilize company vehicles for transportation to the various service areas. Employee will drive in order to install and maintain our equipment to give our customers the superior service they expect and deserve.
  • High school or equivalent (required)
  • Customer service: 1 year (preferred)
  • Schedule
    • 8 hour shift
    • On call
    • Weekend availability
