REPORTS TO: Site Lead, Site Rep, QAC & Director of Program Services
DEPARTMENT: Programs
SALARY RANGE: $20.00
PLACEMENT: Elementary, Middle School or High School morning program
POSITION STATUS: Part-time, non-exempt, 2 hours per day / 10 hours per week, 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.
The work schedule is based on the San Bernardino Unified School District School Calendar
REPORTS TO: Site Lead, Site Rep, Quality Assurance Coach & Director of Program Services
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
After School Youth Leaders work with an assigned group of students at an elementary, middle, or high school within the San Bernardino Unified School District. Our staff-to-student ratios are contingent upon CDC, State, and Federal Guidelines and are currently 1 to 20. Our Youth Leaders make a positive impact on a child’s life every single day. Youth Leaders are role models and mentors. With their team, they work to foster the 5 key elements of the Boys & Girls Clubs: A Safe, Positive Environment, A Sense of Belonging, Fun, Opportunities and Expectations, and Recognition.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Motivate and encourage program participation with students.
- Provide homework/academic support.
- Provide a safe environment for students through active supervision, setting clear expectations and maintaining clean program areas.
- Implementing School District Lesson Plans when provided
- Create an engaging, positive, and fun environment for students.
- Provide constant, active supervision; implement and follow School behavioral guidelines.
- Provide guidance, affirm positive behavior and act as a role model and mentor to youth.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- High School diploma or GED.
- Must have at least 48 semester/72 quarter college units, College Degree or the pass School District NCLB test.
- Experience working with children (volunteer work counts).
- Knowledge of youth development stages.
- Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Ability to plan and implement quality activities for youth.
- Ability to organize and supervise youth in a safe environment.
- Candidates must be 18 years or older.
- Valid State Driver License or California ID card
- Must clear Background checks, Drug Screen, TB test
- CPR & First Aid Certifications - required within 2 months of hire date (we provide certification courses).
Note: This position will be in-person working at a school site. We are taking all necessary precautions to ensure our employees' safety.
