services needed for a vibrant rural economy. The Farm MIT contributes to our mission by
providing leadership and direction for barn employees, providing care for pigs, and producing a
quality meat product right in our rural community that feeds the world.


As a Farm MIT, a typical day may include the following:


• Work closely with a current farm manager or production supervisor to learn the ins and
outs of managing a sow farm
• Take initiative to learn how to oversee all sections of the sow farm including all areas of
breeding and farrowing, management of employees, understanding of barn operations
• Provide leadership for the farm staff, scheduling of farm staff, delegation of work
assignments
• Shipping and receiving animals
• Heat checking and breeding sows and gilts
• Assisting with the birthing process of sows and gilts and caring for piglets
• Cleaning facilities including power-washing
• Keeping detailed, accurate records that comply with Holden Farms
• Ensuring all animals are receiving proper feed, water, and ventilation
• Understand and follow WFR’s biosecurity protocol, must shower in and out
• Work an early morning to mid afternoon shift, schedule specific to each farm


This job might be for you if:


• You have strong leadership and people skills
• You put animal welfare at the forefront, making sure all animals are well taken care of
• You like to be physically active and can be on feet for 8 to 10 hours a day
• You are punctual, dependable, and ethical
• You communicate well both written and verbally
• You are able to lead a diverse team of 5 to 16 people
• You are able to work rotating weekends and holidays to make sure the livestock are
cared for
