Calo and Sons Construction is looking for an HR Administrator to join the HR team This position will work closely with the HR Director on tasks be responsible for providing Human Resources and Admin support for the company and its divisions. The HR Administrator is responsible for maintaining accurate employee records, coordinating HR processes, and fostering a positive work environment. The ideal candidate should have excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to organize their work using tools, like MS Office and office equipment.

 

JOB DUTIES

  • Work with HR Director to coordinate the recruitment process, including posting job openings, scheduling interviews, and communicating with candidates
  • Ensure all new hire documents are completed accurately and timely
  • Conducts background checks and employee eligibility verifications; to include driving records and DOT safety history
  • Set up all new hire personnel files and maintain “Active” and “Termed” files
  • Maintain and update employee files, records, and databases
  • Ensure the accuracy and confidentiality of all employee data, including personal information, benefits, and performance records
  • Assist with employee benefits management (Health Insurance, 401K, etc.)
  • Work with HR Director to update HR & office policies and procedures
  • Manage process for all DOT drug and alcohol testing processes and procedures
  • Assist in resolving employee inquiries and concerns regarding HR-related matters
  • Maintain open communication with employees to foster a positive work environment
  • Address general employee inquiries and direct them to the appropriate channels
  • Escalate employee concerns to HR management when necessary
  • Responds to unemployment claims
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of associates degree completed
  • 2+ years previous administrative or human resource experience required
  • Knowledge of DOT, FMCSA and the transportation industry is highly preferred but not required
  • Highly organized and diligent, pays attention to detail and follows through
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
  • Able to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced diverse environment
  • Strong digital literacy skills required i.e. Microsoft Office suite, Outlook, Adobe PDF
  • Should have a working understanding of computers, printers, fax machines, telephones, and photocopiers


SCHEDULE

  • Full-time
  • Day Shift
  • Monday - Friday
  • Overtime available
