Job DescriptionJob DescriptionFutures Inc. is seeking qualified Baking Assistant/ Direct Support Professional candidates Successful candidates will work with and supervise individuals with developmental challenges. While actively working as a baking assistant/ direct support professional, you will support the education/culinary programs in place for those individuals.Futures Inc. assists individuals with disabilities to enjoy living, growing, and prospering in their communities. Our goal is to empower each individual to live life to its fullest and know the satisfaction of personal achievement.Job Position: Baking Assistant/ Direct Support ProfessionalReports to: Culinary DirectorSalary: $19.00 - $20.00 / hourly Depending upon qualificationsBenefits: 403b, EAP program, Life insurance, Dental, Health insurance (during enrollment period), 14 PTO Days, and 9 Paid HolidaysPeriod of Employment: Full-Time
Qualifications:
  • Previous culinary experience required
  • Previous bakery experience preferred
  • Previous experience in human services preferred
  • Skills in human relations, leadership, and conflict management
  • Strong attention to detail and time management
  • Passion for quality, safety, and sanitation
  • Excellent communication and listening skills
  • Friendly, energetic attitude
  • Team player who will contribute to the positive culture of The Kitchen
  • Ability to tolerate standing, and walking for extended periods of time (up to 5 hours)
  • Ability to lift equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be well-groomed
Working Conditions/Physical Demands: Lifting of kitchen equipment and supplies up to 50 lbs. routinely required. Must be able to communicate clearly and possess the ability to meet multiple job demands in a busy environment. May be required to operate Agency vehicles and transport students/consumers. May be required to lift and/or restrain students/consumers or may be exposed to risk or injury from students/consumers with physically aggressive behavior.Job Goals: Support students/consumers receiving services from Futures Inc.; establish a consistent presence for all personnel and activities conducted for The Kitchen.Job Responsibilities:
  • Works effectively with and maintains positive relationships with families, students/consumers.
  • Follows student/consumer Lesson Plans.
  • Ability to resolve issues with the Culinary Director by keeping them informed as they arise.
  • Completes assigned paperwork.
  • Communicate with all appropriate parties in a timely manner.
  • Recognizes and maintains a safe and healthy environment by following Federal and State health code regulations.
  • Ability to display basic knife skills, and teach and model safe knife protocol.
  • Transport assigned clients to and from work, and supervision of consumers in all settings.
  • Work as a 1:1 team with clients to produce bakery products.
  • Measure and mix ingredients to produce bakery products including cookies, cakes, pies, pastries etc. using precise methods and standards.
  • Keep work area clean, organized, and properly sanitized.
  • Strong communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to deliver information in a clear and respectful manner to team members, customers, and vendors.
  • Ability to follow directions and procedures; effective time management and organization skills.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to complete Serve Safe Certification
