GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Tyonek is seeking a Technical Writer with strong technical and documentation experience.

DUTIES

  • Coordinate with government Tech Manual representatives and participate in validations and verifications of technical documentation as required.
  • Research and write such technical documents as procedure manuals, service manuals, and related technical publications concerned with installation, operation, and maintenance of electronic, electrical, mechanical, and other equipment.
  • Create and prepare new or revised technical documentation for operating and maintaining systems, assemblies and parts.
  • Develop and validate Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs), Depot Maintenance Work Requirements (DMWRs), Repair Parts and Special Tools Lists (RPSTLs), procedural art and illustrated graphics all developed to applicable Military Specifications.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Work well in a team environment.
  • Respond quickly to company and customer needs.
  • Interface with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to verify and understand technical concepts and develop courses of action to ensure project completion is on time and within budget.
  • Work overtime and travel when needed.
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • 5 to 12 years related experience
  • Previous Military experience preferred
  • Must have experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings
  • Must have working knowledge and understanding of military and commercial aerospace practices, processes, specifications and standards.
  • Candidate must be familiar with layout, design, and structure of Organizational, Intermediate and Depot level Technical Manuals (TM's) including Operation and Maintenance, Theory of Operation, Fault Isolation Procedures, and Illustrated Parts Breakdowns (IPB's).
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint)
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance.
  • Must have experience/working knowledge of the following:
    • EXtensible Markup Language (XML)
    • Extensible Stylesheet Language Transformation (XSLT)
    • MIL-STD-40051-1 and MIL-STD-40051-2
    • MIL-STD-2361
    • Arbortext Editor
    • UltraEdit

  • May be required to lift up to 25 pounds and carry for short distances.

  • Normally works in an office setting with controlled temperature.
