Safety Coordinator

Job Scope:
The Safety Coordinator will assist the Safety Manager with the efforts to enhance safety, regulatory compliance, safety culture development, incident analysis, and safety program management.
Work Environment:
Work is performed indoors in an office setting, outdoors or in the plant near operating equipment. Works in both low and high heights, cold, hot, dusty areas where loose particles may be present. Works near operating equipment and loud noise, such as forklift horns and machinery. Loose and dusty particles may be present.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the implementation and enforcement of our Corporate Safety Policy & Procedures.
- Conduct daily survey of plant operations and observe for unsafe acts/work practices & recognition of good safety practices.
- Stock & replenish PPE cabinets as needed.
- Promote and positively role model safe practices in all areas of the plant.
- Participate in safety incident investigations to determine root cause, follow through to ensure prompt and effective action is taken, and communicate incidents and outcomes to the leadership team.
- Conduct facility safety walk-through inspections.
- Maintain incident tracking records, analyze data to identify trends and improvement opportunities, follow up on actions, and complete administrative reporting of results.
- Conduct investigations and follow-up with employee safety inquiries, suggestions, and complaints.
- Assist in the development and presentation of safety training programs.
- Successfully complete training as an Authorized Trainer (i.e. New Hire Safety, Fall Protection, Forklift, etc.).
- Assist in conducting safety training for employees, new hires, visitors, and contractors as needed.
- Assist with regulatory agency inspections/visits (i.e. OSHA, EPA, etc.).
- Participate in OSHA annual reporting.
- Willing to work flexed off shift hours.
- Maintain safety certifications such as first aid, CPR, and AED.
- Assist with Workers' Compensation claim administration.
- Perform annual review of written safety programs and plans for update.
Additional Job Functions:
- Assist in maintaining a positive team environment and good working relationship by maintaining a positive attitude toward all Diamond team members, vendors, and customers.
- Participate effectively in a team atmosphere by modeling and promoting conflict resolution, diversity, ethical practices, and organizational citizenship.
- Responsible for other duties as deemed necessary by Management.
