About the Role

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Leapfrog Cost Accountant is responsible for product costing, product manufacturing analysis, and inventory valuation. Additionally, the Cost Accountant supports monthly financial close, cycle counts, and physical inventory and ensures accurate financial postings occur. This person partners closely with our Supply Chain and Operations teams to provide critical support in ensuring compliance with US GAAP and related accounting rules.

What You’ll Do

  • Process systematic receipt of goods of new inventory for all warehouses (consignment, WIP, domestic and international) and reconcile all warehouse inventory to Netsuite weekly
  • Conduct miscellaneous cycle count adjustments weekly for all warehouses and process systematic transfers between warehouses as they occur
  • Process RMA’s and issue customer credits when inventory is received at the warehouse
  • Identify any carrier or warehouse delay issues for inbound containers vs product invoiced and clear any outstanding POs with over or short-shipped product
  • Ensure report balance of account matches General Ledger balance and resolve any discrepancies
  • Review all factory related invoices – raise any concerns regarding quantity billed vs on PO, pricing differences, location discrepancies, aged factory deposits, etc. and coordinate with Operations regarding any missing invoices on goods received
  • Monitor and adjust average cost of items to ensure Sales Orders are not calculated at zero value or significantly less than the last paid price or standard costs and review and adjust items with pricing variances upon receipt
  • Coordinate cycle counts, as needed, with all warehouses and coordinate/attend end of year, on-the-ground external audit and set all warehouse expectations in preparation of audit
  • Additional ad hoc duties as assigned

Who You Are

  • 3+ years experience in accounting/finance role, with 1+ year in cost/inventory accounting specifically
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or other related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Demonstrated strong aptitude for problem-solving, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), documentation skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis and multi-tasking
  • Must possess knowledge of applicable accounts payable/general ledger systems and procedures, financial chart of accounts and corporate procedures
  • Strong computer knowledge and skills, including financial accounting systems and Microsoft Excel proficiency; experience with Netsuite is preferred
  • Enthusiasm for learning and professional growth within a dynamic environment
  • Ability to embrace transparency and adapt to shifting priorities, while learning from each decision and maintaining focus on progress

Note: Leapfrog is currently operating under a hybrid work model, and this position will report on site to our Lincoln Park office at least 2 days per week.
