Job Description:

Someone with payroll tax experience would be the most valuable.

They can teach the system but this would be focused more around tax and payroll accounting in general.

The Payroll Manager Tax, provides payroll tax expertise services that meet the current and future needs of our 4,000 US-based colleagues and is compliant, accurate, timely, and resilient.

This includes reviewing end-to-end taxes, payroll, and associated reconciliations for the US, including multi-state taxation, reciprocity, forms collections, etc.

Payroll Manager Qualifications:

  • Prove ability to use MS Office tools including Excel
  • Proven experience working with payroll in multi-state environment
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration/Finance/Accounting
  • Certified Payroll Professional Certificate
  • 8+ years in a Payroll Office performing all payroll functions required
  • The client has a payroll group of 13 handling various tasks.
  • The group has 3 sr. managers and would like to have someone align with them to help audit areas of performance for payroll.
  • The company has hourly and salary employees.
  • They have union and non-union employees and operate in most every state.
  • They have had some issues with payroll tax compliance and use JD Edwards version 9.2 Enterprise One.
  • While some issues are system related, a big opportunity is with payroll knowledge in a large enterprise organization.
  • They would like to have a certified payroll professional work on the team.
  • They would like to hear thoughts on their set up and how could help develop a better tax understanding and process within their team.
  • Currently they are using Vertex to set up the tax tables.
  • They are using Ceridian to report and pay the tax.
  • They are using JDE to calculate the tax.

The areas of improvement could be:

  • Audit existing system and compliance
  • Review business processes for improvements
  • Look at state requirements and set ups for improvements
  • Align payroll group, tasks, find automation
  • Leadership with payroll managers to optimize existing area and find opportunities for improvements or be extra eyes to catch any problems
