We have been at the forefront of energy storage development since our first energy storage project came online in 2018. As a leader in our industry, we now have over 22 GW of utility-scale energy storage and hybrid renewable energy projects in development and 33 projects in operation or construction across North America.


The PV Design Manager will oversee all aspects of design and engineering for Aypa’s PV projects, from early-stage development through execution and construction. This high-visibility role has the potential to impact Aypa’s growth significantly.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Perform preliminary design for Utility-scale PV projects using 3rd party software platforms such as Terabase;
  • Create detailed initial layouts and electrical line drawing designs for renewable energy plants using AutoCAD and CAD plugins such as PVCase;
  • Originate detailed stand-alone PV and hybrid project take-offs for cost estimation;
  • Work with Procurement to identify and select optimal equipment (PV modules, Inverters, trackers, piling systems, etc.) for projects;
  • Work with Procurement to build and standardize design libraries with preferred technology;
  • Produce technical Inputs for RFP submissions specific to PV and hybrid plants;
  • Work with the Procurement and Preconstruction teams to develop and issue RFPs for engineering work, evaluate the submissions against technical requirements, and make recommendations on selection;
  • Create in-house tools and templates for standardization and reduce effort invested in repetitive tasks;
  • Work with in-house developers, engineering, and real-estate teams to validate prospective project sites and designs;
  • Work with supervisor to engage with 3rd party engineers performing EPC and Balance of plant design for Aypa’s projects;
  • Support planning and coordinating of internal and external resources for technical due diligence of renewable energy projects;
  • Work with project controls leads to identify value-add and profitability influencers through technical analysis and preparation of proposals for improved planning and technical requirements;
  • Other duties as assigned or required.

 

Key Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from a reputed/accredited university;
  • 6 to 8 years of experience in Utility-Scale PV project design and constructability in multiple geographic regions;
  • 3 to 4 years of experience in Utility-Scale PV project development engineering, preferably with more than 1 GW of experience through various stages of development and construction;
  • NABCEP certification would be preferable;
  • Strong knowledge of AutoCAD;
  • Strong knowledge of using Energy assessment tools, specifically PVSyst;
  • Strong knowledge of PV design, including site layouts and optimal component selection;
  • Strong fundamentals in Electrical Engineering with the ability to self-perform varied scopes of work;
  • Strong understanding of Grid-scale renewable energy project development, specifically PV projects;
  • Working knowledge of the construction of PV projects;
  • Familiarity with various PV technologies is a plus;
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills to manage multiple projects and engineering team initiatives.

 

Compensation and Location: 

  

Salary: A base salary commensurate with experience.

Bonus: An annual bonus will be awarded based on individual performance and the business's overall success.
