Position Title: Clubhouse Director

Reports To: SVP of BHS (Behavioral Health Services)

General Purpose:

Clubhouse provides an environment where adults with Mental Illness come together to foster collaboration, Clubhouse offers a space where individuals can use their strengths, talents, and abilities and work together. The Clubhouse environment focuses on teamwork, healthy lifestyles, and individual choice. All staff promote the development of members' aspirations regarding Clubhouse participation, employment, education, housing, and social activities.

The Clubhouse Program Director provides leadership, vision, and direction to the Clubhouse community in pursuit of its mission. The Program Director is responsible for program development, administration, staffing, budget administration, public relations and the overall productivity, supervision, and distribution of work to Clubhouse staff to assure compliance, timeliness, and the provision of quality program services. The Program Director is responsible for the active recruitment of eligible Clubhouse members from the community. As well as publicly representing the Clubhouse's mission and vision.

Essential Functions:

1. Program management a) Coordinates the planning and implementation of new program components in accordance with the Clubhouse philosophy, as outlined in the International Standards for Clubhouses b) Coordinates and monitors daily operations to ensure program is functioning as planned

2. Personnel Management a) Responsible for staff recruitment, supervision, development, discipline, and termination

3. Fiscal Management a) Responsible for developing and monitoring the budget

4. Inter-organizational Liaison a) Serves as liaison to parent organization, as well as to funding and monitoring agencies, ensuring compliance with all their requirements

5. Direct Member Service a) Assist with the provision of rehabilitative services to program members, including the facilitation of vocational, educational, and social activities

6. Track and collect monthly statistical reports and preparation of program reviews as per DOHMH (Department of Health & Mental Hygiene) scope of services

7. Lead program team meetings, ensure program documentation and file requirements are complete and meet funding source requirements by utilizing the EHR (Electronic Health Record).

8. The Director must be able to adapt to situations as they arise; demonstrate flexibility and sound decision-making skills in response to the demands of the Clubhouse to ensure smooth operations.

Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree
  • Prior non-clinical experience working with persons with mental illness in a non-clinical approach and/or experience with recovery and rehabilitation fields.
  • Vocational or Job placement experience is a plus
  • Must be proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) Teams, and Zoom
  • Highly developed communication and organizational skills
  • Must be able to manage multiple competing priorities, with strong follow-through
  • Must communicate effectively, remain flexible in completing the necessary work of the Clubhouse including coverage of holidays, weekends, social activities and other special events
  • Ability to work independently in a team environment and be flexible to meet program needs.
  • Development of strong relationships with all key stakeholders (members, member families, peers, subordinates, superiors, funding sources, employers, communities, etc.)

  • Must undergo a background check & fingerprinting.

Special Working Conditions:

Some Saturdays work required, Program is opened on all holidays, Three weeks clubhouse training at certified training base outside of NYC/NYS.
