We will train and pay for you to be a qualified medication administrator if you do not currently have that qualification.

Bathing, personal care, housekeeping, laundry and assisting with meal services are some of the duties you would be assisting with.


Summary/Objective:

In this non-certified caregiving role, Universal Workers assist residents with activities of daily living, fostering residents’ independence and freedom of choice. The worker is responsible for delivery of quality services, such as assisting with dining and cleaning as well as medication administration for all residents.

Essential Function:

· Practice safe administration of medication via multiple routes using written physician orders according to the rights of medication administration taught in the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment QMAP training Course and the Assisted Living policies and procedures. This includes performing vital signs as ordered.

· Maintain security of all medications and ensure that controlled drugs are kept under double lock and counted between each shift according to policies and procedures.

· Notify the designated staff member using appropriate protocols when there is need for reordering medications.

· Accurately report medication refusals to designated supervisor and notify physician as directed for refusal of critical medications.

· Create medication error incident report for all errors in administering medications that are made or discovered.

· Respect resident rights, and report concerns to a supervisor.

· Perform fundamental duties of resident care and resident needs, such as bathing, oral hygiene, dressing, undressing, and other activities of daily living.

· Understand resident’s plan of care.

· Complete all assigned and required training on time.

· Document all personal care using systems and protocols provided by supervisor.

· Observe, document and communicate resident change in condition to supervisor and report on all actions taken with resident care.

· Clean resident rooms, linens, clothing, and equipment such as wheelchairs and walkers per schedule and maintain daily orderliness in resident living areas and shared areas.

· Clean common areas as assigned and as needed.

· Assist with resident activities, including onsite events and trips away from the property.

· Follow all safety protocols and fire and emergency plans.

· Keep all work areas clean, organized, and orderly.

· Assist with dining setup and cleanup for meals as well as serving and delivering room trays.

· Communicate all important information to incoming shifts and work together as a team to ensure the best quality resident care possible.

· Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor(s)

Work Environment:

· Must be able to occasionally lift 30 lbs.

· Comfortable using and climbing on step stools or stairs (3 flights).

· Certain activities may require repetitive movements including climbing, crawling, crouching, pulling, or pushing.

· May work weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Requirements:

Competencies, Skills, and Capabilities:

· Demonstrate sensitivity to the concerns of residents and a commitment to dealing fairly with all even while dealing with difficult or upset residents.

· Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; attention to detail

· Intermediate computer knowledge and typing skills.

· Respect for privacy and ability to maintain confidentiality of resident care information.

· Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing, including the ability to provide non-technical assistance in a simple and straightforward manner.

Education and Experience:

· Must be 18 years of age.

· Must be First Aid and CPR certified (will allow up to 30 days for certification)

· Must have training and designation as Qualified Medication Administration Person through program approved by the State of Colorado Department of Health and Environment (Will allow up to 30 days for qualification)

· Read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

· Basic computer skills

· Previous experience with individuals facing mental health challenges is highly valued.
