Purpose

In a print environment, repair and maintain machinery, equipment, buildings, and facilities, install new equipment and machinery in accordance with company policies and procedures. with an emphasis on safety, productivity, quality, and good housekeeping.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, repair, rebuild, and maintain printing equipment used in production and related services, maximizing production time, and minimizing down time.
  • Explore methods for the improvement of machine operation. Suggest changes to upgrade machinery and equipment to improve production.
  • Diagnose machine malfunctions and operating difficulties.
  • Make repairs or adjustments to keep equipment in production.
  • Rebuild machines and overhaul troublesome components and attachments to involve dismantling, inspection, machining, or replacement of purchased parts.
  • Perform various activities relative to the installation and relocation of existing machines and equipment to involve dismantling, erection, leveling, fitting, and aligning operations.
  • Perform maintenance on the buildings, facilities, and the grounds.
  • Assist to determine the nature and scope of forthcoming projects and the requirements for completion.
  • Complete assigned projects as directed.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive Preventative Maintenance Program.
  • Perform preventive maintenance as appropriate on production equipment and machinery, and the building and grounds.
  • Specify and source parts and supplies to be ordered by Purchasing as needed.
  • Maintain technical competency and remain current in technology and changes in the industry.
  • Complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, documents, etc.
  • Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations.
  • Keep up orderliness and cleanliness of plant floor workshop and tool cart.

Physical Environment

  • Shop floor work area where conditions are subject to temperature change.
  • Standing for long periods of time.
  • Able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally required to walk, sit, stoop, kneel and crouch and use hands to finger, feel.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Contact with and use of inks and cleaning chemicals.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; elevated locations; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; energized wiring; and vibration.


Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in mechanical maintenance or practical experience-training in the trades for a period of at least 3 years.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial electrical applications and diagnoses of motor control problems.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Team player with sufficient organizational skills
  • Technical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and safety rules.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Requires the ability to read and work from blueprints, schematics and diagrams, the ability to operate forklift trucks, the ability to operate a wide variety of small hand and power tools, and precision measuring devices, the ability to operate a variety of electronic testing equipment, and the ability to operate shop equipment.
  • Ability to communicate with co-workers and vendors in a concise and professional manner.
