OVERVIEW

This role supports programmatic functions in the Low-Income Tax Clinic (LITC). Tasks include preparing forms, interviewing clients, researching areas of tax law, collecting financial information from clients, database administration, and other tasks depending on experience and as assigned. Position supports staff attorneys and Program Director. May perform other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Conducts initial client eligibility screenings and research through preparation of forms, client interviews, and other tasks
  • Assists clients with information gathering and organization of information and financial documents
  • Researches and understands IRS terminology and regulations of the Internal Revenue Code, Internal Revenue Manual, and IRS publications
  • Develops content for organization's LITC webpage, social media feed, and other educational outlets
  • Networks with relevant agencies and organizations throughout Tucson to expand awareness of and access to the LITC
  • Conducts community education presentations and other outreach events
  • Assists the Program Director in completing program reports
  • Provides administrative support to attorneys
  • Attends required trainings and in-services
  • Performs other duties as assigned

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Suitable work experience may be considered as transferable skills in order to meet minimum requirements of the position and will be considered by the Executive Director of Human Resources.

  • Associate Degree or two years post-secondary education (current Law school enrollment preferred)
  • 2 years of progressive administrative experience in an office environment
  • Proven computer skills utilizing Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proven strong communication skills - oral and written are clear, concise, and in an organized fashion using appropriate grammar, style, and tone
  • Proven record of working effectively with families of varied lifestyles, backgrounds, and ethnicities
  • Ability to lift 35 pounds 10% of the time
  • Ability to stoop, bend, climb, and reach

REGULATORY

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Valid driver license, proof of insurance, and 39-month motor vehicle report
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card and FBI National Criminal Records History Report (employer paid)
  • Pass pre-employment drug screen (incudes marijuana, regardless of recreational use laws) (employer paid)

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor Degree in human services or Legal-related field
  • Enrolled Agent certification
  • Additional years of directly-related experience
  • Multilingual
