The Roger Bacon Academy is an education management organization that manages multiple charter schools in southeastern North Carolina located in Leland, Whiteville, Southport, and Wilmington.  Classical Charter Schools of Leland is hiring for an Office Assistant.  This position is a 12-month position that follows the school academic calendar. 


The following mission outlines the expectations of all employees at the school level as well as employees of The Roger Bacon Academy in providing support to the schools.


Our understandings of humankind and our universe are expressed and communicated through all of our arts and sciences.  Each method of expression – language, painting, music, mathematics, and science – has its rules and techniques for effectively communicating these ideas and understandings.  These rules and techniques are the bridges over which ideas must be communicated from one generation to the next. Office Assistant – Job Responsibilities


Purpose:

The Office Support Staff member performs several duties to provide clerical assistance within a designated work office.  Detailed instructions are given and most tasks are routine and repetitive in nature.  Minor problems may be solved by the employee; all others are referred to the Office Manager.  The employee in this position receives direct supervision. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists the Office Manager or specified supervisor with clerical needs including but not limited to: answering phone/Microsoft TEAMS/email, greeting visitors, ensuring office cleanliness and organization, mail distribution, and general filing.
  • Responsible for serving as the first interaction with visitors in the office and finding a source for resolution to their needs.
  • Assist with student enrollment for upcoming year.
  • Assist with student, staff, and parent needs via in-office visits, phone, Skype, and email.

  

Other Duties:

The position of Office Support Staff reports to the Office Manager or designated supervisor.  This position is a 12-month position that follows the school academic calendar.


Qualifications

The Office Assistant will have the following experience and attributes:

 

  • Working knowledge of general office practices.
  • Working knowledge of and ability to use grammar, vocabulary, spelling and punctuation.
  • Ability to operate multi-line phone system.
  • Ability to use basic computer software programs; Microsoft Office skills desired.
  • Ability to compile simple information.
  • Ability to access information through a computer network.
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to The Roger Bacon Academy’s mission.
