Human Resources Manager

This position will have responsibility for supporting all facets of HR for Ferguson Construction's Columbus office. This will include close support for the region's Vice President and General Manager (VPGM), the Field Resource Manager and Project Managers. It will also include close collaboration with the corporate Human Resources team located in Sidney, Ohio. This position will report to the Chief Human Resources Officer and will have a strong dotted line relationship to the VPGM. This position is based in our office located in northeast Columbus, not far from Easton.

This is an exciting opportunity for the right person to join a fun, tight knit construction team that is building inspiring spaces in the greater metropolitan Columbus area. You will be working with the industry's best, and joining an HR team that is rapidly evolving and re-engineering its work processes to electronic workflows in the iSolved HR Information System.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Recruiting

The Human Resources Manager may publish new postings and remove when positions have been filled. They will review resumes on a daily basis for positions such as construction project managers, concrete carpenters, carpenters, sheet metal roofing and siding professionals, and general construction support professionals. They will work with hiring managers to identify top candidates. They will schedule and conduct video screens and onsite interviews. They may also post ads on Facebook and publish postings on LinkedIn. They will also help draft new job descriptions as needed.

2. Conduct orientations for new hires

The Human Resourcesr Manager will coordinate all pre-start activities such as drug screens, backgrounds checks and Motor Vehicle Reports. They will also send new hires orientation details. They will conduct benefits orientations and coordinate with the Safety department on Safety orientation. They will help new hires complete all requires tax and citizen verifications documents. They will enter all new hire info into the HRIS and distribute uniform shirts. They will scan needed records to employee files. These things will be automated after we transition to iSolved.

3. HRIS, payroll and time keeping support

The Human Resources Manager will have responsibility for processing all time, attendance and payroll records on a daily basis, although this will change after we introduce the new HR Information System.

4. Employee relations

The Human Resources Manager will support managers in investigating employee misconduct, help managers issue warnings and provide support for employees who violate company policies. Work closely with corporate benefits administrator and Field Resource Manager to coordinate Family Medical Leave, short term disability, worker's compensation, work restrictions and general accommodation needs.

5. Employee engagement and training

Support rollout and ongoing use of our new recognition and service rewards programs called BUILD. Support managers in using BUILD to provide spot recognition, major project milestones recognition, birthday and service award recognition. Support development of superintendent, skilled trades construction workers, and project managers to do their very best. Track completion of safety, welding and CDL certifications. Support development of career task map. Support, develop and implement mentoring program.

6. Support Field Operations Manager as needed with recruiting at career center/vocational schools.

7. Track certifications for Columbus employees for things such as CDL licensure and welding certifications. Monitor driving records for Columbus employees to ensure all have active driving privileges.

8. Support launch of new HRIS. Integrate the Columbus region's needs in the launch of our new HR Information System, and train new users when ready.

Requirements:

1. MUST HAVE Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business or related.

2. MUST HAVE a minimum 3 years of experience recruiting and HR generalist work

3. Highly organized, extroverted, collaborative approach to work

4. Prior experience working in a regionalized, matrix organization highly desirable
