Shift: 3:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. - 4 on/2 off rotating schedule or
2 days 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. & 2 days 3:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.

At The Cottages, we provide an environment for those living with memory loss in a unique setting, residents can enjoy their own individual apartments, while still receiving some assistance with bathing, dressing, and other support services. Residents at the cottages enjoy a family style environment complete with a communal kitchen, living area, dining room, sunroom, and a beautiful garden. The Glen is rich in tradition, progressive in theory, acclaimed in satisfaction, and --most importantly-- feels like home.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Provides assistance to residents with ADLS and IADLS and assists in the maintenance of the facility environment. Participates actively in the provision of care services to the resident.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:
  • 1) Receives and gives report to charge nurse & team members at change of shift.
  • 2) Encourages or assists with activities of daily living(ADLs) such as bathing, grooming and with instrumental activities of daily living(IADL) such as shopping, housekeeping, laundry, socialization
  • 3) Practices effective communication techniques with residents, visitors, and coworkers and promotes a positive image of the facility
  • 4) Arranges, schedules, encourages resident activities, both spontaneous and scheduled
  • 5) Adheres to infection prevention and control practices
  • 6) Assists with admissions, transfers, and discharges of residents
  • 7) Prepares apartments for new admissions
  • 8) Transports and escorts residents
  • 9) Mentors new employees
  • 10) Documents care as necessary
  • 11) Participates in development, implementation, and evaluation of residents service plan
  • 12) Keeps environment, equipment, supplies, and resident furniture clean.
  • 13) Reports to supervisor:
    • Changes in residents status
    • Equipment and supply needs
    • Repair and maintenance needs
    • Safety hazards
    • Unusual occurrences or observations
    • Problems with completions of assignment
  • 14) Directs resident and visitor concerns to supervisor
  • 15) Responsible for obtaining required in-services
  • 16) Adheres to posted schedule. Submits requests for time-off per facility policy
  • 17) Responsible for adhering to all safety guidelines for protection of self, residents, and co-workers
  • 18) Works to promote maintenance of residents abilities at their highest level.
  • 19) Protects residents privacy
  • 20) Responds to emergency calls from residents
Other related projects, duties and responsibilities may be assigned as deemed necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
  • Certification as a Nursing Assistant with the State of Louisiana preferable.
  • High school graduation or equivalent.
  • Able to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions
  • Basic computer skills to document with EHR
  • Able to attend regularly scheduled in-services provided by the facility
  • Visual and hearing acuity to assess and provide resident care.
  • Must be people-oriented , have good communication skills, and the ability to work with a diverse group of people
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  1. Must be able to fulfill job requirements in a high-energy, high-traffic area.
  2. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds; push, pull up to 90 pounds.
  3. Finger and hand dexterity to operate small equipment and perform job tasks
  4. Extensive sitting, standing and walking
