Job Overview

Shriners Children's is searching for a PRN Physician Assistant to join our team at Shriners Children's Shreveport. The ideal candidate will have several years of pediatric and/or orthopedics experience, preferably in an outpatient setting, and be open to covering 1-2 days per week, 8:00am to 4:30pm.

Responsibilities

The Physician Assistant provides comprehensive, evidenced based health care services to the pediatric population. Services provided by the PA-C may include, but are not limited to the following:
  1. Assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of identified health needs in the clinical and inpatient setting;
  2. Ordering and interpretation of diagnostic and/or laboratory tests;
  3. Formulating, documenting, and monitoring treatment plans;
  4. Routine pre or post-operative surgical care management;
  5. Ordering interdisciplinary consults;
  6. Ordering pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies and/or interventions;
  7. Assisting with minor clinic procedures
  8. Assisting in the evaluation and work up of the patient, conferring with physician on treatment and follow up


Qualifications
  • Master of Physician Assistant Studies required
  • Current board certification from NCCPA required
  • Valid LA PA-C license required
  • Valid DEA license required
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred.
  • Teaching and training skills, and demonstrated ability to provide age-appropriate direct patient care
  • Experience in managing pediatric or orthopedic patients required

  • Proficient computer skills with experience with Epic EHR preferred
  • Current full vaccination status required
