About the Position
We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Communications Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for researching, planning, designing and developing communications and marketing programs and products that effectively convey information to targeted audiences. This role requires proficiency in various media and communication methods to achieve specific impacts and desired effects. The Communications Specialist will also handle information requests, prepare statistical reports, and perform clerical functions such as correspondence and meeting scheduling.
Key Responsibilities:
Research and Development
- Conduct research, planning, design and development of communications and marketing programs
- Create products that convey information to targeted audiences through suitable media
Content Management
- Plan, coordinate and edit content for publication.
- Review proposals and drafts for potential publication, including technical editing
Writing and Origination
- Originate and prepare written materials such as scripts, stories, advertisements and other content
Needs Assessment and Program Evaluation
- Assess communication needs, programs and products
- Apply interdisciplinary thinking, integrating principles from communications theory, business and marketing, public relations, psychology and organizational theory
Stakeholder Engagement
- Contribute to stakeholder analyses, outreach approaches and other customer and market-related research and interactions
Administrative Support
- Conduct research and prepare statistical reports
- Handle information requests and perform clerical functions such as preparing correspondence and scheduling meetings
Software Proficiency
- Utilize software applications such as Microsoft Office suite and Adobe suite
- Use other audiovisual design and editing applications effectively
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- Active U.S. Customs and Border Protection Background Investigation (CBP BI)
- Proven experience in communications, marketing, public relations or a similar role
- Strong writing, editing and content creation skills
- Excellent research and analytical abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe suite
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams
- Strong understanding of communications theory, business and marketing principles, public relations, psychology, and organizational theory
