Key Responsibilities:

Case Analysis and Research:

  • Conduct comprehensive research on scientific, medical, and legal aspects related to toxic substances, including statutes, regulations, and case law precedent, to build a strong defense strategy.


Client Counseling and Communication:

  • Communicate complex legal concepts and strategies effectively to clients, provide counsel on potential risks, and offer guidance on best practices to manage toxic tort claims.


Discovery and Evidence Management:

  • Oversee the discovery process, including document review, analysis, and management of evidence related to toxic exposure claims, collaborating with experts and witnesses.


Drafting Legal Documents:

  • Prepare pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents necessary for litigation or settlement negotiations, ensuring accuracy, persuasiveness, and adherence to legal standards.


Depositions and Court Proceedings:

  • Participate in depositions, hearings, and trials, examining witnesses, presenting arguments, and cross-examining opposing witnesses to advocate for the client's position in court.


Collaboration and Strategy Development:

  • Work closely with senior attorneys and experts to develop case strategies, collaborate with internal teams and external experts, and contribute insights to effectively defend clients against toxic tort claims.



Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and admission to the CA state bar.
  • 4+ years of relevant experience in complex litigation, preferably with a focus on toxic tort defense, including drafting pleadings, conducting depositions, and participating in hearings or trials.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • A strong background or specialization in environmental law, with a deep understanding of regulatory frameworks, compliance issues, and environmental litigation pertaining to toxic substances.
  • Proficiency in conducting legal research related to toxic torts, evaluating scientific and medical evidence, and applying findings to develop effective defense strategies.
  • Proven ability to interact with clients, provide sound legal advice in understandable terms, and effectively manage client relationships while navigating the complexities of toxic tort cases.
