POSITION PURPOSE:

The AmeriCorps Recruitment and Outreach Coordinator will serve as the full-time AmeriCorps member recruiter, assisting in outreach events, community partner networking, and managing social media content to enhance recruitment efforts. This role is responsible for overseeing the selection process for full-time AmeriCorps members, which includes meticulously screening candidates, conducting interviews, running background checks, and making the final selection of qualified candidates. Additionally, the Coordinator will contribute to the organization’s social media strategy by creating and curating content that promotes AmeriCorps opportunities, engages potential applicants, and strengthens the organization’s online presence.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

Under direct supervision from the Grant and Compliance Manager, the AmeriCorps Recruitment and Outreach Coordinator will perform the following functions:

  1. Develop and maintain a robust recruitment plan that increases enrollment for full-time AmeriCorps members from across the country to the Austin and local surrounding areas, run and adjudicate all background checks through Truescreen.
    1. Organize informational booths and tabling at community events and job fairs, including Rise & Lead: Con Mi Madre Orientation, Pease Park Pride Picnic, ACC's Juneteenth, WFS Healthcare Job Fair, Earth Day ATX, Second Chance Community Resource Fair, the Next Transformative Youth Justice Program, and the BBBS Career and Post-secondary event. Additionally, deliver informational sessions within Juvenile and Adult Correctional Facilities, such as Gardner-Betts Juvenile Justice Center and Travis County Jail.
    2. Maintain job boards, efficiently and effectively fill open positions, develop a pool of qualified candidates and students in advance of need, conduct phone and/or in-person interviews, and ensure all program participants meet the eligibility requirements for AmeriCorps.
    3. First point of contact for all applicants, working in collaboration with the Recruitment and Outreach Coordinator for all enrollment documentation for new participants; create and maintain files and file documents
    4. Effectively conduct interviews with prospective participants, asking targeted and appropriate questions to identify the applicant's goals, motivations, and future plans. Assess the applicant's suitability for AmeriCorps programs by evaluating their skills, experience, and alignment with program objectives. Perform HR-type screenings, including background checks, reference verification, and eligibility assessments, to ensure compliance with program requirements and organizational policies. Provide clear and accurate information about program expectations, and use a structured approach to recommend or disqualify candidates based on the comprehensive evaluation of their qualifications and background.
    5. Ensure participant folders are complete with all necessary paperwork and eligibility documents, Including and not limited to eligibility documentation, vital documents, and background checks. Emphasize the critical importance of having all required documents, such as identification, educational credentials, and eligibility verification, meticulously organized and verified before enrollment. Additionally, ensure that the three-part criminal background checks—consisting of identity verification, national sex offender checks, and state and FBI fingerprint-based checks—are fully completed and documented prior to the participant's acceptance into the program. This meticulous attention to detail is essential to maintaining compliance with AmeriCorps requirements, protecting the integrity of the program, and ensuring the safety and suitability of all participants.
    6. Coordinate with YouthBuild Recruitment and Outreach Coordinator, Participant Coordinator, and Program Assistants to ensure timely intakes, enrollments, and data entry. This may include YouthBuild Austin participants and full-time AmeriCorps members
  2. Communications:
    1. Working collaboratively with Development/Communications/Marketing team and the YouthBuild Recruitment and Outreach Coordinator, frequently review messaging across public platforms and in marketing materials;
    2. Actively contribute to the development and execution of the organization's social media strategy by collaborating with the marketing team to create engaging and impactful content that aligns with the organization's goals and values. Participate in brainstorming sessions to generate innovative ideas for campaigns, posts, and promotions that resonate with target audiences. Assist in managing social media accounts by scheduling posts, monitoring engagement, and responding to comments and messages in a timely and professional manner. Analyze social media metrics to assess the effectiveness of campaigns, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement. Your role is essential in enhancing the organization's online presence, building brand awareness, and fostering a strong connection with the community through strategic and consistent social media efforts.
    3. Serve as the recruitment liaison for AmeriCorps Central Texas (ACT) and Service Year, attending monthly meetings and collaborating on projects and initiatives. .
  3. Self-audit participant and program files prior to enrollment and may assist in program audits after enrollment quarter with the YouthBuild Admin Team team.
  4. Assist with the PearsonVue testing center by checking in testers, verifying identity, securing personal belongings, and proctoring exams in accordance with the Pearson VUE Test Center guidelines, which requires a PearsonVue certification.
  5. Assisting with enrollment paperwork, eligibility, and data entry into grant-required databases, including but not limited to eGrants, DOL, DYB, MS Access, ECM, and tracking spreadsheets;
  6. In collaboration with assigned interns, assist colleagues over orientation, special events, graduation, etc.;
  7. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Required

EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION: High School Diploma or GED - Preferred Some college with Business/HR/Marketing

EXPERIENCE: Two years of AmeriCorps service and/or working in a YouthBuild Model, school setting, or jobs training program with grants and contracts, reporting measurements, audit request, compliance, and member coordination. Customer service experience.

EQUIVALENT EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or GED, and five years of the specified work experience.
