The LineUp is a meeting place for locals, aspiring surfers to pro surfers, and travelers alike.

We are seeking a dynamic individual to work with us on all aspects of start-up operations of the worlds' largest standing deep-water surf park, expansive food & beverage operations, water-based activities on the adjacent 52-acre Wai Kai Lagoon, boutique retail store and a wide offering of events and contests. The right candidate will have strong communication, financial management, and modern management skills; as well as the leadership qualities to develop an exceptional experience for both employees and guests.

POSITION TITLE: Surf Operations Supervisor

REPORTS TO: Director of Surf Operations

POSITION TYPE: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

JOB SUMMARY:

The Supervisor of Surf Operations is responsible for assisting the Director of Surf Operations with the daily operations of the surf and overall wave pool experience. This role is a key management role responsible for the end-to-end guest service experience at The LineUp at Wai Kai. The Surf Operations Supervisor must have a high-level understanding of all wave system operations and be able to direct and manage team members effectively.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manage Daily Lane Configurations: Ensure surf menu offerings and daily lane configurations (1 to 3 lanes) maximize guest experience and revenue goals as outlined by the Director of Surf Operations.
  • Water Treatment: Train on all water treatment equipment and testing mechanisms to maintain a safe water environment. Consult with Director of Surf Operations to ensure water treatment equipment and chemicals are managed. Receive training on all water treatment equipment and testing mechanisms to uphold a safe water environment. Collaborate with the Director of Surf Operations to ensure daily and timely completion of water treatment and chemical tasks.
  • Surf Equipment: Manage the fleet of surf equipment and safety equipment for surf operations. Including overseeing regular equipment maintenance, upkeep and ordering of new equipment as required to maintain a quality fleet for our guest experience. Also, the coordination of regular demo-days with local shapers would be anticipated.
  • Safety: Train on and adhere to all Surf Operations Safety procedures as outlined in the Operations Manual, including safety equipment, injury procedures, and reporting.
  • Assistance to Director of Operations: Provide assistance and support to the Director of Surf Operations in various operational areas.
  • All other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in the Surf Park or Surf Program space
  • Lifeguard Certification and CPR training
  • Experience in managing staff
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines
  • Computer literate with working proficiency of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and some familiarity with PowerPoint or presentation tools)
  • Undergraduate degree preferred, will also consider a combination of education and experience
WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be fluent in oral and written English
  • Competent at Surfing and familiar with the waterman culture of Hawaii
  • Schedule flexibility will be required, particularly around special events and holidays
  • Prolonged periods of time outdoors and standing, walking, bending, and kneeling.
  • Must be able to lift and move objects weighing up to 30 pounds.
