Scope and Purpose:

ManhattanLife is seeking a Premium Tax Specialist to join our team This individual will be responsible for various monthly, quarterly and year-end tax filings. You must be proficient with Microsoft Office software and familiar with other industry software. You must also be able to maintain tax information and records and prepare state premium and withholding tax returns.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for preparing and filing state premium tax returns and related forms (life, A&H, annuity premium tax returns).
  • Responsible for the coordination and preparation of annual and quarterly premium tax returns.
  • Assist with external and regulatory audit requests, premium tax return preparation and other regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain necessary documentation to support premium tax payments and allowable tax credits.
  • Assist in requests from internal and external auditors in the completion of the annual financial audit.
  • Maintain compliance with tax regulations.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and/or previous experience in insurance with an accounting mindset.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Insurance industry knowledge preferred.
  • Familiarity with premiums, special project software and ability to use both for tax reporting.
  • Possess strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to adapt and conform to unfamiliar tasks, procedures, software.
  • Premium Tax experience is a plus.

Travel Requirements:

This position may require light travel within a ten-mile radius from one office location to another as needed.
