Education & Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a conference center or a related field required.
  • College course work in related field preferred.
  • Proficient computer knowledge/skills required.
  • At least 4 years of progressive experience in restaurant management or a related field with direct responsibility for managing a restaurant/bar operation. 
  • Must have knowledge of Food and Beverage preparation techniques, health department rules and regulations, and local liquor laws and regulations.
  • BASSET and Food Handler certifications or equivalent required.
Physical Requirements
  • Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
  • Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
Fundamental Requirements
  • Associate must, at all times, be attentive, friendly, helpful, and courteous to all guests and fellow associates.
  • Oversee and manage the daily operations in Food and Beverage and other departments as business requires. Supervise personnel, including temporary workers, by motivating, training, coaching and counseling all associates, communicating job expectations and appraising their performance.
  • Motivate, coach and counsel all department personnel according to Q Center Policy.
  • Ensure the training of associates on Standard Operating Procedures, technical job tasks, BASSET certifications, sanitation is achieved.
  • Interview candidates for open food and beverage positions and follow standards for hiring approval.
  • Maintain radio contact with the Department Staff and other Departments throughout shift, responding to all inquiries in a timely manner using proper etiquette.
  • Organize and conduct department meetings both on a daily and monthly basis to train and develop associate morale and skills. Conduct ongoing training of department supervisors and associates to maintain standards of service.
  • Maintain a professional working relationship and promote open lines of communication with managers, associates, and other departments.
  • Maximize financial performance while upholding quality standards and maximizing levels of associate and guest satisfaction.
  • Define and implement department objectives and standard operating procedures.
  • Manage budget, forecast, expense, records, and contracts.
  • Ensure preparation of required reports, including (but not limited to), payroll, revenue, associate schedules, and quarterly action plans; assist in maintaining an organized and comprehensive filing system with documentation of purchases, invoices, schedules, forecasts, reports and tracking logs; submit required reports in a timely manner.
  • Maintain Q Center Standard Operating Procedures regarding Purchase Orders in Birchstreet.
  • Develop labor schedules to align with operation needs ensuring guest and client satisfaction; make changes for-the-week, in-the-week as business changes occur and effectively communicate changes timely and appropriately.
  • Conduct associate performance reviews in accordance with Q Center standards.
  • Ensure training and compliance of all associates on Standard Operating Procedures, Q Center policies, technical tasks and risk management is achieved.
  • Be visible on the floor and assist staff as needed.
  • Operate all aspects of the department computer system, including software maintenance, report generation and analysis, and simple programming.
  • Keep immediate supervisor fully informed of all problems or matters requiring their attention.
  • Respond to all associate and guest requests, problems, complaints and/or accidents presented through various channels, in an attentive, courteous, and efficient manner; follow up to ensure guest and associate satisfaction.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and manage all necessary department supplies.
  • Ensure overall associate and guest satisfaction and safety is achieved.

  • Ensure that all required inventories are completed with accuracy on time. This includes all areas of responsibility for food, beverage, chemical and paper goods monthly and china, glass and silver quarterly.
  • Assist in menu planning and preparation.
  • Control and maintain all service equipment, issue service requests as necessary.
  • Review daily Purchasing requisitions are complete by deadlines and that appropriate quantities are requested.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
DINING ROOM
  • Oversee all aspects of the daily operations of the center’s two main Dining Rooms.
BANQUETS
  • Oversee all aspects of the daily operation of Banquets, including all Private Events and Refreshment Breaks.
  • Coordinate all banquet related food and beverage requirements with the appropriate departments.
  • Review menu/service with banquet chef.
  • Maintain up-to-date details on banquet functions and communicate to department supervisors.
  • Oversee banquet set-up assignments.
  • Ensure inspection of all banquet areas for cleanliness and maintenance on a regular basis.
  • Supervise the work of banquet department supervisors as well as dining room department supervisors and observe the performance of associates.
  • Be visible on the floor and assist staff as needed during each event.
RETAIL
  • Oversee all aspects of the daily operation of beverage operations and outlets.
  • Ensure compliance with core liquor, beer, and wine lists.
  • Plan and implement beverage menus.
  • Track and process all BirchStreet transfers of all alcoholic beverages between departments.
