Job Summary

The P&C Analytics Solutions team is one of the four pillars within Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Specialty Risk team. This pillar aims to add value to the underwriting, product, actuarial, portfolio management, and claim teams by providing solutions and services across the value chain. It is within the mandate of the team to be at the forefront of analytics understanding by driving the development of novel solutions through the combination of risk knowledge and data science capabilities.

We are seeking a motivated and client centric candidate with a passion for analytics and technology to join our highly skilled team. The Geospatial & Catastrophe Manager will work as a thought leader, subject matter expert, and technical data scientist to help design, develop, and support the data and analytics solutions. This unique position works closely with other portfolio risk managers, actuarial and product subject matter experts, and senior software engineers to brainstorm, research, design, and develop new capabilities and solutions, leveraging the latest technologies. These are and will continue to be industry leading commercial tools and solutions that support and enhance the work of ERM, portfolio and product analysts at Orion180 across the US.

Role and Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage portfolio management dashboards and actuarial tools using Python and/or R.
  • Apply analytical and problem-solving skills to assimilate complex information and support business decisions.
  • Lead client projects, ensuring effective collaboration with cross-functional and/or virtual teams. Maintain strong internal client relationships, demonstrating excellent consulting skills.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
    • Education: Advanced degree in a quantitative field such as computer science, applied mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, engineering, or econometrics.
    • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in technical project execution with a strong analytical component, ideally in the insurance industry.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in machine learning, analytics tools, and data platforms (e.g., SQL, Power BI).
  • Experience with software development is advantageous.
  • Expertise in predictive modeling across the insurance value chain including marketing, pricing, underwriting, claims, and capital modeling.
  • Proven ability in advanced analytics applied to underwriting, claims, and portfolio management.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience building dashboards and reports in data visualization/business intelligence software such as Power BI or Tableau
  • Firm grasp of practical approaches to data science, machine learning, and/or artificial intelligence theory
  • Exposure to cloud-based data analytics tools (e.g., Azure Synapse, Databricks, Azure Machine Learning)
  • Knowledge of primary and surplus lines insurance products.
  • Portfolio management and Reinsurance experience.
