Achieve Services is looking for a designated coordinator with a behavior focus. This role assists with training staff on the positive support rule, assisting with creation of positive support transition plans, reviews client plans and provides updates for positive support strategies.

MONDAY-FRIDAY day time position

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION:
To develop behavior programs for Achieve participants that are exhibiting excessive behaviors. Assist with implementation and training of the Positive Support Rule. Provide technical assistance to staff on behaviors. Coordinate the health and safety committee.

Major Areas of Accountability:
  • Identify, recommend, write and directly support behavior programs for specific participants that comply with operating rules and regulations.
  • Intervene as needed during behavioral episodes
  • Instruct staff on detailed behavior management techniques and methods and monitor data collection.
  • Receive and distribute Incident/Accident/Informational report files and maintain these files.
  • Complete all behavior intervention reporting forms in required timeline.
  • Monitor behavioral/psychiatric medications on participants as needed.
  • Provide training in physical intervention techniques.
  • Participate in overall agency planning.
  • Attend participant planning and staffing meetings as needed and necessary.
  • Monitor Positive Support Transition Plans.
  • Monitor and review accident/incident/informational reporting.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Develop and deliver staff training as it relates to the positive support rule.
  • Coordinate Health, Safety & Accessibility Committee which includes scheduling quarterly meetings and safety drills, writing meeting minutes, and following up with safety concerns.

Knowledge and Skill Required:
  • Knowledge of behavior programs and intervention techniques, including 2 years of implementing and/or writing positive support plans
  • Knowledge of developmental disabilities field.
  • Ability to interact with individuals who are developmentally disabled.
  • Knowledge of personality and abnormal behavior.
  • Ability to work with parents and guardians in facilitation of behavior programs.
  • Ability to write behavior programs.
  • Ability to be on time and work scheduled shift.
  • Ability to provide training and make presentations to staff.
  • Ability to recognize, observe and understand behavior problems.
  • Ability to work with other professionals and organizations in the developmental disabilities field.
  • Ability to provide direct care to program participants and assist with participant supervision as necessary.
Education and Experience Needed:
Must meet the Designated Coordinator requirements
1) a baccalaureate degree in a field related to human services, and one year of full-time work experience providing direct care services to persons with disabilities or persons age 65 and older;
(2) an associate degree in a field related to human services, and two years of full-time work experience providing direct care services to persons with disabilities or persons age 65 and older;
(3) a diploma in a field related to human services from an accredited postsecondary institution and three years of full-time work experience providing direct care services to persons with disabilities or persons age 65 and older; or
(4) a minimum of 50 hours of education and training related to human services and disabilities; and
(5) four years of full-time work experience providing direct care services to persons with disabilities or persons age 65 and older under the supervision of a staff person who meets the qualifications identified in clauses (1) to (3).

Education and Experience Preferred:
Bachelors Degree in Behavioral Sciences or highly related field with emphasis on behavior management. At least one year of experience working with individuals who are developmentally disabled; or equivalent combination of education and experience; or a demonstrated capability to perform the duties of the job.
