Job Overview

 

Community Engagement: Events and Outreach Interns will gain experience in the community-event planning field through communication, coordination, and activity planning in a nonprofit setting. Interns will support Family Future’s program efforts by planning and implementing ways to reach families where they are within our community. There will be a high focus of creating for and participating in events and activities that engage community members, families, and children in the highest of capacities. This intern will be part of the larger team to provide support to other areas of the organization as needed. This internship position is unpaid but college credit can be earned.

 

This internship will run from September 3, through December 13, 2024, and will have a mandatory orientation on August 29, 2024 from 9:00am-4:00pm at the Family Futures’ office. This internship can also be extended into multiple internship periods ending in either December 2024 or April 2025. Family Futures employees, volunteers, and interns serve as spokespersons and champions of Family Futures in the communities we serve. A position at Family Futures may entail the following: the use of a personal vehicle, lifting of boxes (roughly 25 lbs.), as well as attendance of community events outside of regularly scheduled hours. Lastly, Family Futures require all staff and volunteers to comply with the current COVID-19 vaccination mandate.   • Coordinate Family Futures representation at local community events
  • Work on outreach planning with Family Futures as a key part of the Community Engagement team
  • Network with local businesses and organizations to help create successful events
  • Assist in the implementation of various outreach efforts through attending and staffing tabling opportunities at local community events
  • Research and create activities that are developmentally appropriate for the children and families that Family Futures serves
  • May involve collecting data and information for basic report writing
  • Other duties as assigned, including but not limited to, participating in mailings, social media, and other communication methods
  • Approximately 50% of time in office, 50% of time out of office 


 Required Qualifications

  • Current student or recent graduate
  • Experience or interest in relevant field of study: Nonprofit, Human Services, Communications, Early Childhood Development, Community Engagement or other potential majors
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Effective and considerate time management and organization skills
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • At least 15 hours per week
