Reports To: Transition Academy Program Director

Job Status: Exempt

Job Summary:

Supervises work-based learning staff, establish workforce partnerships, and provide students avenues to refine critical thinking, workplace readiness and technical skills; essential to pursing a healthy life and career pathways. Create and coordinate work-based learning (WBL) career presentations and tours, field trips, job shadowing, paid and non-paid internships.

Essential Functions

  1. Highly developed organizational, time management, human relations and interpersonal communication and writing skills; self-motivated, flexible, and creative.
  2. Experience in supervising personnel.
  3. Ability to manage multiple priorities and solve problems.
  4. Experience with planning, budgeting, creating, coordinating, and completing workforce activities and or projects and partnerships.
  5. Develop post placement pathway for graduating students
  6. Drafting and implementing MOU’s and frequently visit local business partners
  7. Develop and implement staff shift schedules.
  8. Develop student WBL I and WBL II shift schedules.
  9. Develop and implement on and off campus WBL schedules.
  10. Able to utilize assistive technologies.
  11. Maintain and evaluate individual and collective WBL statistics and reporting documents.
  12. Ensures the development, accuracy and completeness of incident reports.
  13. Case Management.
  14. Counsel and possibly instruct students on subjects related to life matters.
  15. Visit and monitor work-based learning sites for quality and safety.
  16. Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations, guidelines, and standards related to WBL.
  17. Knowledgeable understanding of WIOA.
  18. Assist with quarterly academy assemblies and graduation.
  19. Work closely with Transition Academy Program Director, Residential Life and Student Activity Coordinator and Applied Academic Coordinator.
  20. Ability to be flexible and complete tasks as unforeseen events arise.
  21. Provides transportation when necessary.
  22. Model, mentor, and motivate the value of appropriate and effective independent living standards and workforce success.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

A. Training of Work-Based Learning Staff

  • Develop and implement initial training and document appropriately.
  • Conduct regular meetings and document appropriately.
  • Conduct initial quarterly coaching and commitments.
  • Conduct annual performance evaluations and succession planning.

B. Assisting with Development of Work-Based Learning Procedures and Rules

  • Develop and implement data format to house student information.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team and staff to develop standing operating procedures for WBL assignments, activities, reports, monitoring and enforcing rules.
  • Design and disseminate shift schedules.

C. Managing Work-Based Learning Activities

  • Prepare professional portfolios.
  • Career, College and Special Fairs or workshops
  • Manage and resolve situations involving conflict resolution and inappropriate behavior amongst students and or staff.

Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/university in business, special education, education, sociology, behavior analysis, vocational rehabilitation, psychology, human or social services.
  • 2 or more years work experience in business or industrial applications.
  • 3 or more years of related experience with I/DD and Autism or teaching experience.
  • Operating knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and other department software.
  • CPR/First Aid (not mandatory but a plus)
  • Ability to participate in physical activity.
  • Ability to stand, sit and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Light to moderate lifting.
  • Ability to do moderate bending, lifting and standing on a regular basis.

Special Requirements:

  • Criminal arrest check will be done through the OSBI; Per Section 1025.1 et seq. Of Title 56 of the Oklahoma statues, House Bill 1790, any prospective employee with a felony or misdemeanor conviction, guilty plea or plea of nolo contendere will not be eligible for employment. This prohibition may be disregarded if an appropriate waiver is obtained from the Office of the Director, DDSD, Department of Human Services, or his/her designees.
  • Community Services Registry checks (House Bill 1790) will be done through DDSD, Department of Human Services. The person whose name appears on the registry cannot work for A New Leaf.
