The Field Construction Technician Lead position requires working with/leading a field construction technician team and/or working alone and unsupervised and therefore this individual must be self-motivated and disciplined.


The Field Construction Technician Lead must have a thorough understanding of all aspects construction and operation of a cell site and cell site equipment and must be able to coordinate efforts related to the construction and operation of cell site and cell site equipment with other members of the field team including Construction manager, Field Engineers, RF Engineers, Microwave Engineers, Switch Technicians, and Site acquisition.


The Field Construction Technician Lead position requires job duties outside of the normal Monday through Friday work week of 8:00 to 5:00, including before and after-hours, night work, weekends, holidays and most days out of town and overnight.


The Field Construction Technician Lead position includes climbing various types of towers, working on roof tops and in confined spaces.


The Field Construction Technician Lead position requires working outside most of the time and in extreme conditions, which could include extreme cold, extreme heat, heavy rain, hail, snow etc. The position requires reaching with hands and arms, climbing and balancing as well as kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling. The position requires lifting up to 100 pounds and/or carrying material about 20% of the time. The position requires manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with the fingers. The work environment may be improperly illuminated at times and also requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to focus.


This position requires actions and behaviors that promote a positive, supportive working environment at all times. This is a Safety-Sensitive position. Candidate must maintain the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

Education/Experience:

  • Completed High School or GED equivalent.
  • Completed Com-Train or equivalent tower climbing safety training through Com-Train or equivalent
  • Completed Com-Train or equivalent rigging safety training through Com-Train or equivalent
  • Three years of tower climbing experience
  • Three years of tower rigging experience
  • Three years of tower and cell site construction experience
  • Two years of line sweep and PIM test (Anritzu) experience
  • Two years of MW alignment experience
  • Two year of heavy equipment experience

Qualifications:

  • Must have a good driving record
  • Must be able to work in various climates
  • Must be able to work in the field for week long outings
  • Must be able to work an on-call schedule
  • Must be physically and mentally able to climb various types of towers
  • Must have strong communication and organizational skills
  • Must have strong leadership skills in construction setting
  • Must be proficient in using lap top and operating Microsoft programs
  • Must be Com-Train or equivalent tower climbing safety certified
  • Must be Com-Train or equivalent rigging safety training certified
  • Must be Cellular One safety certified (CPR, First Aid, Driving, Forklift)
  • Must be proficient in Microwave Alignment
  • Must be proficient in line sweep testing (Anritzu)
  • Must have communication and organizational skills
  • Must have experience in heavy equipment operation
  • Must have the ability to lead in the construction setting
  • Must have the ability to collect and prepare project close out documentation
  • Must have the ability to understand and implement project plans (CD's, data sheets, etc.)
  • Must have the ability to coordinate with other persons in the industry (Tower owners, customers, engineers, etc.)
