Direct and lead Meeting Street’s Development team, raising more than $1.5M annually to support the agency’s philanthropic activities including annual fund, Board of Trustee engagement, major gifts, corporate sponsorship, special events and planned giving by leading a team of three development professionals. Identifies, cultivates and solicits a portfolio of annual, major and capital campaign donors and manages all fundraising resources. Works closely with the President in the planning and execution of fundraising priorities. This position reports directly to the President and sits on the Leadership Team.


  • Lead, direct and support Meeting Street’s Development function to ensure a successful fundraising and donor cultivation effort that includes individual giving, major/planned giving, corporate giving and special events for restricted and unrestricted support.
  • Develop annual agency fundraising targets (restricted and unrestricted funding) in collaboration with the Leadership Team and internal program managers.
  • Manage department budget projections and business plan goals, monitor overhead expenses, report on fiscal progress and implement strategies to reduce expense and enhance revenue (P&L responsibility).
  • Manage and supervise a team of direct reports, including (3) development professionals, independent contractors, interns and volunteers.
  • Lead the Development team in the creation of an annual fundraising plan and guide expectations for the annual fund effort including database management, gift recognition, research, direct mail and other year-round fundraising efforts.
  • Manage a portfolio of major donors to support the achievement of annual and capital campaign fundraising targets, including meeting prospective donors and supporters on a continual basis to establish and strengthen their connection to Meeting Street.
  • Grow the major gifts program (including identification, cultivation and solicitation of individuals giving $1,000+ per year) and guide the growth of a sustained planned giving program.
  • Rebuild the individual and corporate fundraising program in the Southeastern Massachusetts region.
  • Build and manage a Board Development Committee providing the President with strategy for all volunteer fundraising work.
  • Design, sell and fulfill sponsorship opportunities available through all special events including the Meeting Street Telethon (Jan/Feb), Endless Summer (June) and work closely with the Marketing Team to ensure sponsor recognition.
  • Design and manage all aspects of the annual Endless Summer gala in Massachusetts (June), including event design, sponsorship and content.
  • Manage and execute all donor cultivation / stewardship events (including, but not limited to: Halloween, Memorial Ceremonies, Capital Campaign Receptions & Board Receptions).
  • Develop and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with internal program leaders and frontline staff, identifing opportunities to engage prospective and existing funders/donors.
  • Oversee the creation of publications to support fund raising activities.
  • Direct the annual employee giving drive.
  • More duties assigned.
Requirements:

  • 10+ years’ experience in all dimensions of fundraising.
  • 5 years’ experience in management and agency leadership.
  • Prior capital campaign experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Management, or related field required.
