HEALTH SERVICES WORKER I
The Position
GENERAL SUMMARY: The primary responsibility Health Services Worker (HSW) is to collaborate with the Health District Refugee Program staff and community partners to offer direct supports and referrals to culturally and linguistically appropriate health care resources and services for health-related social needs. These efforts will support resettlement and integration into the community for designated refugee and immigrant populations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Work with the Health District Immunization Outreach Team and Health Equity committee to create culturally and linguistically appropriate interventions and educational materials.
- Provide tailored outreach to the refugee and immigrant community to promote health literacy and teach health education topics.
- Meet with clients on a 1 on 1 basis to address concerns related to health benefits navigation, and acquisition.
- Identify and maintain communication with key community stakeholders serving the target population and maintain.
- Develop cultural and linguistically appropriate media and social media campaigns.
- Partner with Health District staff, community-based organizations and refugee serving agencies on health education and vaccination outreach events.
- Collaborate and share resources with workgroups and community partners to improve access to and quality of information shared with the
- Create a safe space for community members to engage in discussions around health education, health benefits navigation, and health literacy.
- Conduct care coordination services, connecting people to care to address co- morbidities that intersect with negative health consequences of preexisting conditions or concerns.
- Maintain records of events and interventions and report per Department of Health (DOH) contract requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Must have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills to effectively assist clients and obtain information from clients with diverse cultural backgrounds. Be non-judgmental of clients and their lifestyles.

The Requirements & Selection Process
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma, customer service experience with strong communication skills. Extensive organizational proficiency and writing experience. Additional Requirements: Must obtain a valid Washington State driver's license within 30 days of employment and have an insured vehicle available for work related travel. Successful completion of the Department of Health (DOH) Community Health Worker (CHW) training with proof of completion within a maximum of (6) months of employment. Proof of eligibility to work in the United States of America. Bilingual skills in English and Spanish or Arabic preferred.
