Mustang Special Utility District is a local governmental entity providing water and water reclamation utility service in Denton, Collin, and Grayson Counties of north Texas. Description:

The Accountant performs a variety of accounting tasks including general ledger functions, reconciliations, payroll functions, and financial analysis. Critical thinking and an eye for detail are vital in this position.

 

Duties:

Include, but are not limited to:

  • Participate in preparation of all financial reports to the District.
  • Prepare general ledger reconciliations and process journal entries from multiple sources.
  • Maintain payroll functions, including bi-weekly payroll, monthly and quarterly returns, deductions reconciliations, and coordination with Human Resources.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly accounts receivable invoices, review aging reports.
  • Assist with annual budget and annual audit.
  • Respond to other department inquiries and provide assistance as needed.
  • Perform related duties and fulfill responsibilities as required or assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
  • Three years progressively responsible professional experience in accounting, finance, or related field
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to form and maintain effective relationships with co-workers
  • Extensive knowledge of accounting software and ERP systems
  • Skill in use of computer software packages such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and Power Point.
  • Valid Class C Texas Driver’s License or ability to transfer from another state.

 

Work Environment:

This position primarily requires work in an indoor professional office work environment.


Conditions Of Employment: 

  • Must have a valid Class "C" Driver's License before employment (must obtain Texas Class "C" driver's license within 30 days of hire per state law). 
  • Preferred valid Class A CDL.
  • Must pass a drug test, driver's license check, criminal history background check, and social security number verification check.
