Job DescriptionJob Description

The Clean Air Specialist will be responsible for the completion of the workplan tasks under the US EPA 103 Clean Air Act (CAA 103) grant. The technician will write quarterly reports, will carry out accepted sampling protocols standards, provides community education, will write Quality Assurance Plans for sampling, be able to travel and must show up to work on time.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and/or RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Execute and manage all tasks outlined in the US EPA 103 Clean Air Act (CAA) grant work plan.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports in accordance with grant requirements and guidelines.
  • Implement and adhere to established sampling protocols and standards for air quality assessment.
  • Oversee the procurement of necessary sampling equipment and supplies to support monitoring efforts.
  • Review and validate the results of air quality sampling and analysis, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of EPA regulations and standards relevant to air quality assessment.
  • Collaborate with external contract laboratories for the analysis of collected air samples.
  • Facilitate effective communication and coordination with tribal environmental counterparts to ensure seamless collaboration.
  • Will draft the CAA 103 EPA grant proposal and will submit it to the EPA CAA 103 Project Officer.
  • Will research and stay informed of current issues regarding air quality and climate change.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Director.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • An undergraduate degree in environmental science or two years work experience in air quality field.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, and/or REGISTRATIONS:

  • Must possess a valid driver license and must be insurable under Tribal insurance.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work outside when weather is extreme.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and/or ABILITIES:

  • Must have communication skills.
  • Must be able to work in Word, Excel, powerpoint and EPA databases.
  • Must work cooperatively with EPA Grant Project Officer.
  • Must be familiar with Tribal, state, and federal environmental guidelines and regulations
  • Must be willing and able to travel for conferences, trainings workshops and EPA meetings to increase skills and knowledge.
  • Must be able to do presentations in front of crowds.
  • Must be able to work with minimal to no supervision.

Must pass background check and pre-employment drug screen.
